Don't use smileys etc. on AMP pages

Yesterday I set up my website to AMP pages. I sometimes use a smiley in a post or page. And I suddenly saw it looks terrible on the AMP version.

Thinking that this might apply to other signs than smileys. So just a warning if you are using smileys etc. to check how it looks in the AMP version.

Here is a screenshot so you can see how it looked on my phone, and as you can see it looks terrible, so if you check if there is any signs etc you need to change after setting up AMP.

All the best,

Mikael

Thanks for the heads up on that information. You're right, it does not look good.

Thank you for the head ups! I started using smileys in my posts. I will check this out.

You are welcome. I also like using smileys once in a while. So now I am using it like this instead:-) That does not look weird on AMP pages

still think it's worth getting your site amped up!

Have also done that and expecting great things from it:-) just a few gliches that I need to work out for my site to still function fully.

Thank you Mikael, good advise. I too like using smiling faces etc.

Yes in the right amount it can add a bit of character to the page I think. But not if it looks like above - then it is just scary:-)

Thnak you Mikael

I still don't really see the value of AMP.

The styling looks terrible for most of my pages and makes my website look like something from the 1990's.

Hopefully AMP won't become a major ranking factor because I cannot see how to implement it without trashing my entire site.

I might have missed something here and I would appreciate some insight.

Thanks,
Dan.

I can unfortunately not help with too many insights about AMP in general. I have just started looking into it myself.

Most of my site look pretty ok on AMP I think, so it might also depend on the theme?

Thanks for the tip, Mikael.

Thank you.

Thanks for this tip.

I also noticed that a few things I added to my site to put some character didn't look so nice on the AMPed version, which is a shame.

Steph

Yes it is a shame. But worth finding something else than having it look like above I think:-)
