Somebody is Trying to Blackmail Me

Don't fall for these scammers! Sad that people have nothing better to do with their time than sending out false emails trying to blackmail people.

First off I don't go on any such websites as this perv suggests. Secondly I'm not paying this moron $2000.00 usd.

This email was sent to an email associated with one of my websites here. This website has only five posts and one affiliate program. In other words I haven't really used this email at all. Seems like somewhat of a rare chance for someone to even find this site (sorry to say) and/or email address.

Do you think there is a scammer amongst us? I know others have posted about such emails. Should I report this to Kyle? Maybe I should just forget about it and have a good laugh.

I must admit I found it funny when they stated "the last chance to save your social life". What social life?!? When I'm done with work, I then work on my website. Rinse and repeat.

You should have asked them what social life you have, it may have sounded interesting lol.

These people get so desperate that they have no idea what they are sending to people. I think they just use ones that they have seen or been sent themselves and change it to be from them.

You did the right thing and I would tell Kyle or Carson then have a good laugh about it all.

🤣😂 Yes, it probably would have been. Those people are something else. To say the least.

Thanks, Cheryl, have a great evening!

That is what a scam is all about, trying to trick you into giving them money. Pass it on to Kyle but odds are is that it comes from outside our network.
Just another sad reminder of the state of the world.
Don't let it bother you evil always tries to mess with good.
Ray

Thanks Ray. Sad, how the world has changed.

Yep scammers everywhere. Yes I would bring it to Kyle's attention!

No matter the career path social life is important to incorporate into our life, otherwise what's the point of living?

It is said success is not attaining your goal, but taking the time to stop and smell the roses and taking the scenic route every now and then. Being a participant in life past our barriers we have set and re-grounding ourselves and not forget to live beyond the structure we have built until we reach our goal is vital to success.

Life is here now, enjoy it and live it to the fullest with an attitude of gratitude otherwise we may never have the chance to look up or beyond our imaginary structure we are determined to keep to reach our goal, that's self imprisonment.

Live, love, be!

Thanks Suzanne. Yes, you are right. I do need to make time for the simple enjoyments in life. The weather should be starting to warm up. Maybe I will actuallly venture outside. lol

Not had one of these personally but have seen them talked about here. The more awareness through posting and commenting, the better. Not everyone on here is going to dismiss it, out of hand.

Thanks Twack. Yes, people need to be aware.

Lol, what social life? Yeah, when you become this busy, there is not that much of it. I do believe that for all of us there will be much more of a social life once the money starts rolling in big time :)

I hear ya. I'm waiting for that time :)

I haven't received any similar issue. But, Thank you for sharing with us. That would be a big help for us to be aware of.

Was the first time I received an email like that. Yes, we need to be aware to not fall for these scams. Thanks for stopping by Raquel.

I think I had one. I didn't open it. The opening snippet said: This is your last chance. . . Likewise, I don't use the email. Yes, let's report it. I've seen scammers in my emails before in a Stella Dot (jewelry marketing) account -- and Craig's list. Good grief. Don't worry, just report.

Thanks Donna. Years in the past I've had people try to pull Paypal scams on me. That was a different email address of course.

I find you shoul report them, Mickey! We can spend our time here better than dealing with such things!

Thank you for sharing!
Aloha, Jenna

Thanks Jenna that is so true. Plus, it was very startling to say the least.

I bet, it was!

It's a really common email, Mickey. I reproduced one of them in a blog here a few weeks ago and still get 2 or 3 a week to my various email addresses.

It's all nonsense, of course. Anyone can send an email that appears to be coming from your own email address and no one can take over your webcam. They use bitcoin because of its anonymity.

Interestingly, one that I received was followed a couple of hours later by someone promoting a webcam cover!

I think the timing was coincidence. Just someone seizing a marketing opportunity.

The webcam cover looked like a bit of cardboard and was being sold at 50% off for $12, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for commenting Phil. Lot of crazies out there. Sad.

It's highly unlikely that they were coming from WA, Mickey.

They are a well organized group of overseas scammers who scrape keywords off websites or purchase them from lists and then send out their emails by the million.

They only need a small percentage to fall for it to make a lot of money.

Thanks Phil. I had no idea. It just seemed so odd to me.

Thank you, Phil for the detailed information!

Hi, Mickey,
Yes contact Kyle or Carson on this it does seem kind of rad for a new site. They will look into this for you or at least give you their thoughts on why.

I would in the meantime change all your passwords just in case. I change mine often.

I have about 3 notifications a week of people attempting to login into my emails. Lucky for me I have a 2 or 3 step verification process. I am notified every time they try it.. They are blocked instantly

Drives me insane but it happens. This also can happen if you allow apps to control your emails etc.

Always check any apps and always check you trust them. Double check everything.

Debs :)
.

Thanks Debs for the advise. I thought it was odd too. I don't even think I've actually even used that email address, except maybe one. Weird.

It sounds odd but I always cover my camera on my PC. My son is a gamer they can switch off our internet. They have switched off our internet and I go crazy when they do it. Thats down to Gamers larging it lol. It happens.

I was watching a programme from the BBC They actually show you how hackers can control the Alexa and turn off lights in your home. They can even go in to your Smart TV and shop online using Alexa.

There are always routes and options to take but use your due diligence and yes contact Kyle Carson on this matter even if it makes you feel more secure.

Not saying it's that drastic but they will try lots of stuff to hack. Its up to us how we secure ourselves. I think it does need to be looked at Mickey for sure,.

I personally as me as a member since 2016 would reach out to the founders for sure. So they can at least double check. I wouldnt hesitate mickey seems odd to me.

Debs :)

I don't have a webcam on my PC. My husband does and it's covered like you suggest. Switching off your internet. Jeez it's crazy the stuff people will do. Very scary.

Thanks Debs. I'll contact Kyle.

Yeah hunni it happens and also because its really not nice to be contacted in that manner and at least they can put your mind to rest.. Remember they are real tech savvy and will help you hun. They are so kind.
:)

Thanks Debs. I appreciate it.
