It doesn't have a site for me. I logged in, and uplo

Hi Mike, you have already paid for your gravatar as it is included in the premium member benefits. I know there are several tutorials on setting up your gravatar as this is a popular question.
All the best
Michael

Thank you, I did get it worked out.
Not sure what I did... didn't follow a tutorial.
It's working so far.

Enjoy a prosperous day.
Mike

No. There is no yearly fee.

OK, now all is well, thank you.
I just had to choose the Free Account... duh.
I appreciate you.
Enjoy the best of success!

I have been building a Website based on my original idea. It's a premium website, not a site.rubix one.

Going through training and following suggestions for best practice

Pirate Mike, here is a tutorial that I came across just a few minutes ago.

I thought about you and your concerns of moving your site. this is an in-depth guide on what to expect.

It's by Neil Patel..https://www.quicksprout.com/the-simple-guide-to-moving-your-wordpress-site-to-a-new-domain/

I've just now fixed 73 broken links with this tutorial so, this could be helpful...if you decide to carry on with the domain transfer.

It is amazing Michael how all things are possible within the WA community. Glad you found an answer.
Ray

Hey Michael,

Once you make your decision, and IF both sites are using WordPress, here's a tutorial to help you move your content painlessly: Do remember to delete the content from the site you are moving the content FROM... and only once you are SURE the content has ALL been moved... so that you won't suffer a penalty for duplicate content.

Hope you find this helpful.

I agree with Alanna, you can transfer the domain from one domain to another but, you may run into duplicate content.

I've transferred three times, applied to Google Adsense and this is when I found out I had duplicate content. Although, Google called it scraped content. When I did my research, about the scraped content, it was my content from domain A.

Plus, you will have to take into consideration of changing all of your accounts that has domain A associated with. Such affiliate programs, affiliate networks, social media (basically, anywhere you have your old link.)

I also know you can redirect the old domain to the new domain but, at the same time, like I mention according to Google Adsense, I've been denied to their program due to the scraped content (which is my duplicate content of domain A).

Once I get all of that fixed I can re-apply. Anyhow, I haven't been penalized to my knowledge. At least I haven't received a message from Google but, if you transfer you domain name it's a lot of technical work to apply.

I would say if you really want to change it and you're okay with the extra work then go for it, if not, I would leave it as is, by the way, I ended up removing or requesting that my domain be removed from indexing from GA and it still is indexed.

So, I can only assume that I missing a step somewhere. So, with that said, it's a lot of work ahead if you transfer your domain name.

The bottom line is it can be done but, it's not as easy as it sounds. I hope this helped some.

Good info.
As I have just started, the only outside posting is on my Facebook Page and Group.
There are 4 nice Posts.
I've worked hours on them and they are valuable.
I do have to consider all of this.
Thank you.
Mike

What if I moved everthing, then erased my old domain and all content in it.
Then went public w/ the new content on the new domain.
Would Google still find the old info?
Curious Mike

This is what happened to me.

I thought erasing the domain here and within Google Analytics would remove the site completely but, nope, it's still in the Google and Bing search engines.

I mean you could get lucky and not face any of this, since you just started. However, it is important to know the possibilities that you could run into.

If you decide to transfer, I would redirect the site for at least the 30 days, this helps keep any of your rankings, that you may have had. After the 30 days, you can delete the domain or keep it.

The site can be removed from search engine, it's just going to take time. How long? I'm still waiting to find out that answer.

But, in short yes you can delete the site. But, deleting the content, I'm not positive on that.

According to siteground, you have three options.

#1. you can create a file named robots.txt ( I haven't done this so, I'm not sure how to even guide you on setting up a file)

#2. you can set noindex option for your pages. And it should be removed the next time it's crawled according to siteground.
(I didn't know to do this step so, this right here alone may fix it but, not guaranteeing it because, I haven't tried it myself)

#3. you can submit a removal request within your Google Analytics account. (I've done this option and I'm still waiting for them to remove the site)

Source for Siteground --> https://www.siteground.com/kb/how_to_remove_a_website_from_google/

Source for removing URL in search engines ---> https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals

And according to Google just because, you remove the website from Google doesn't mean it will remove it from the web so there are more steps to complete.

Source for removing things from the web and Google:
https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6332384

You also may have to remove the images that are connected with the site (such as the image Urls). According to Google they should be submitted within your GA account removal tool option.

Another step that I may have missed was request Bing to remove the site. So, don't forget to remove the site from Bing as well.

The bottom line is, I haven't completely found out how to completely destroy the site out of Search engine and off the web.

I asked the community for help and no one that answered knew how to fix the issue. So, it's a long tedious process to figure everything out but, I know it's possible but, may be technical and it may come with many steps.

Sorry to be long winded. I just wanted to make sure you knew what you could face.

I forgot to say that for sure your site will be removed from the web, if your domain expires but, that will take an entire year to get it removed.

So, the first time I transferred that is I just let the domain expire but, this time, I don't want to wait that long. So, I took the technical route and it is a job in itself.

The positive side is, if you were to transfer and figure everything out, you'll know how to help others in that area.

Other than that, I would seriously ponder or do more research before transferring your site with the same content.

One thing you want to be careful of is duplicate content. if any of your content from from Site A has been indexed with Google already, you could run into an issue transferring that content to site B.

Having said that, if you transfer and shut down site A, you should be fine.

Not sure how to answer the feasibility question. If you feel strongly about it and you think it would be best for your business then go for it.

Hope this helps,

Alanna

When I set up my new domain, I wrote in a Title, which I now want to change. How do I do that?

You can't change a domain name unless you buy a new domain name

You are so right Vicki, but I wonder if Michael meant his Site Title.

If so, here's a tutorial: for Michael.

Of course Trish- I am tired today and missed the clue here- You rock thank you

I found it under Identity.

I am glad you found it- Trish also left training for you on how to do this
I apologize- I was tired and though you meant your domain name- Glad it is changed now
Go well
Vicki

Take care.
And thank you for circling back around.
Mike

You are welcome Mike- I would hate to set you on a wrong path- Thanks Trish for handling my error :)

I'm setting up my Gravatar account.

When logging into my Atmail Webmail email account to verify the email... the address bar says that the site is not secure. My browser

I have had problems with Gravatar as well. I thought it was just me. I guess not!
Thanks for asking the question.
Wanda

Yes, still not resolved.
Kinda cumbersome.

Yes it is. It took me days of frustration and I got nowhere. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Wanda

BTW, I use domain emails, but not by opening an inbox here, I just forward it to my normal Gmail account. I don't actually use the email box here.

I'm setting up Gravatar so I can leave Comments on Websites with in WA.
My confirmation email won't show up.
:(
Mike

It won't show up when you forward it to your normal email? Or when you check the email here?

It might be an issue with Gravatar. I set mine up ages ago so I don't even know what I did with that. It's probably been at least ten years. So I have no idea.

This is probably best left to support. They might have a solution for you regarding the email service here.

There final suggestion is to go to Gravatar.
This might take awhile.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike if your browser has blocked you, your next plan of action would be to contact site support. You may also, if available try another browser. Further on down the line, chances you will need a better e-mail system. I use Mail Chimp, a free plugin. All the best,
Michael

Thanks.
At this point, why is WA still using Gravatar?
I know that Word Press owns it.
I have seen several questions about trouble with Gravatar.
Mike

Yes, I've noticed this too and it bothers me. I also have to say that the webmail service is absolutely atrocious. It's agonizingly slow, and it's super annoying having to delete emails by opening them one-by-one instead of just checking the boxes like every other webmail service.

This issue you might have to message site support on.
