Dodgy wifi, kookaburras and hoshin kanri
We're on holidays at our favourite mini-holiday destination on the Great Ocean Road in beautiful Anglesea. My boys have done what they always do, and made some instant holiday friends.
While they've been off having a ball, I've been battling a dodgy wifi connection. I don't mind at all though. I'm sitting outside listening to the kookaburras, with a cup of coffee, thinking about what's next. And planning some tasks and goals for myself and my site. I have written up a hoshin kanri which was a great exercise. If you're not familiar with a hoshin kanri, here's an image of one:
I use hoshin kanri as a strategic and operational planning tool at work. Also commonly known as 'plan on a page' or an 'X matrix'. Anyway, enough about the hoshin for now.
Part of me is thankful that I've been forced off technology for a bit. Thinking time and space to reflect is important, especially when you've been working at a frenetic pace like I have for the last month.
Life is good. I'm incredibly thankful that I found at Wealthy Affiliate, and all the possibilities that are available to each and every one of us here.

Hi Melissa, it's always nice to get away from the daily grind every now and then. It helps to knock the cobwebs out of the attic. Trust me, at my age it takes a lot of knocking.

Great story, Melissa, and thanks for tweaking us a bit on the hoshin kanri X matrix. I'm familiar with many Japanese tools and terms from my years teaching and implementing kanban and the Toyota production system, but hoshin kanri is new to me. I've now looked up the meaning and use, but I've no idea of the history of the term and management approach. Can you enlighten us?

Dodgy wife & kookaburras wake me up every morning. Because of my wife's heart failure making her cough a lot she hears the kookaburras laughing and gives me the run down on where they are every day.
Listening to nature is healthy bringing us back down to earth.
