Do you have a secret?

Hello lovely community, I hope you’re all doing well. It's been a big morning here in the community!

I have a secret, but I’ll get to that in a moment.

My boys and I have been on a mini holiday in one of our favourite places. This year there were some additions to my luggage, including my laptop and my little ‘book of ideas’. Usually I just bring a few books with me to read but not this year. My laptop has become a feature pretty much everywhere I go now. I have had to buy a new oversized handbag to accommodate my new Wealthy Affiliate life! (Plus any excuse to go shopping, right?).

Here was our view yesterday:

This is my dream - to be able to work from wherever I feel like.

My family understand that I am building a new career for myself, piece by piece. They are so supportive of me and are wanting to see me succeed. My husband is really happy for me and we are already talking about how my new-found skills will be able to help drive traffic to his business in a little while when he has more traction on his product. He is a techie through and through. There will be product reviews aplenty. I will SEO that thing right out of the water. I might even do video walk throughs! What?! Who is this person?! Well people, it’s the new me.

Our boys are happy because they think I have a cool job now (they don’t really understand what I do in my other job – sometimes I don’t even know!!), and they are old enough not to need me every moment of the day when school is out, so we are all happy.

They check in with me all the time with “How is your website going today Mummy?” and “Are you happy with your work today Mummy?” And I very proudly show them my website. “Did you REALLY do all of that Mummy?!” they ask me. And I smile and I say “Yes – I did this!! I’ve been working really hard!!!”

I have a week left of my ‘holiday’ from the job that I will return to when the boys start back at school. I have had the most amazing time over the last several weeks. Being at home with my family and learning a whole new profession. I feel like I have accomplished so much. I have:

• finished the certification training (although I will go back and do all of it again)
• made significant inroads into affiliate bootcamp
• bought 2 domains. My first I will not progress with. This was pretty much my practice one and I’m not happy with the niche – I chose it in a hurry because I was so eager to continue with the training! I am not passionate about it so I’ll just put it to the side for now.
• I have lots of pages and posts, and I’m really getting into the rhythm of researching and writing. I think my writing is pretty good, and as I write more it gets better and better. I will have to go back over my first pages and posts and tweak them now that I’m better at it, and have another look from an SEO perspective.
• I am starting to understand analytics but I have a way to go with that
• I am getting a little more confident with social media, but again I have a way to go with that

I am more confident with what I’m doing and I know that this is where I want my career to be. In my mind I’ve made that decision. I just need to keep going on this when I go back to my job. Wealthy Affiliate will be my other ‘secret life’. My little secret. The thing that keeps me going. The little ray of sunshine when I feel beaten down.

At this point I have not widely shared my new life because it is still forming. I do consider this my new life, because I’m not the same person as I was when I started this journey. I have a new set of skills, and these skills are growing on a daily basis. I have a new outlook – I want to do something new, and I will. I have set the foundations.

This morning, the email from Kyle absolutely made my day. This is happening.

When I go back to work I will look the same. But I will not be the same. I will have my little secret. My Wealthy Affiliate secret.

One day I hope to be able to shout it out loud. Although being the introvert that I am, it will probably be less shouting and more of a thoughtfully worded post.
