The Purpose Of True Meditation

Typically most forms of meditation are practiced by sitting, with the eyes closed. We shut off our sight. We do not move, so we are not really touching anything other than what we are sitting on. During meditation, we attempt to shut off all of our 5 senses. Because our bodies are designed to collect data they will automatically try to continue gathering information through any available sensory. If the body cannot get anything from our standard 5 senses, it will try to push the 6th sense forward. This process is the basis for most meditation methods.

The chances of activating the 6th sense in this way are incredibly remote. It is based on a shameful lack of understanding.

This is why other methods discourage development of the very sense they are unknowingly trying to bring forward. They are simply unaware of the process. Shut off your senses, sit long enough and hope that the 6th sense, or spiritual "awareness", will spark. This is how other systems expect you to awaken. It is a prescription for frustration and failure.

To me this is like playing the lottery.

Using other systems, every time you sit down to meditate there is a one in a million chance your 6th sense might just randomly step forward. For most people, when this happens it triggers an amazing, profound and truly paranormal experience. Of course, there is one problem. Once it happens and you have the experience, how do you have another? You stumbled across it in the first place by blind luck!

One is sure to ask what the 6th sense needs to communicate. Every sense we have interprets data from this dimension into experiences. They translate experiences and communicate them to us. We are on a spiritual path seeking higher our consciousnesses and God. How will we find and understand these things.

Will our higher consciousness suddenly appear before us in a flash of light and just say, "Oh, there you are. Hi, my name is Charlie. We need to talk, there are a lot of things about us you don't know or have forgotten." It is a absurd thought. What about God? When the moment arrives for us to connect with the Universe, do we expect the clouds to part, a giant face appearing in the sky, saying, "Oh there you are. Hi my name is, well, God. Say we need to talk, there are a lot of things about us you don't know and have forgotten." Then we sit, stare up at the clouds and chat with God as if it were our next-door neighbor? Equally absurd!

The 6th sense is the closest to what we are looking for - a frequency or energy. The more we can learn and understand its language the more we can translate and find awakening. Using the 6th sense we can interpret and communicate, without words, the language of the Force (God).

More than understanding the Force (God), if you wish to accomplish psychic or spiritual feats you must also think without words. If, for example, you want to do something extraordinary, like float an apple across a room using your mind, how do you think you will do that? Do you think you will just say to the apple, "Hey apple! I command you to float across the room!"? No. Floating an object through the air may seem like an extreme example but it illustrates how amazing a true spiritual breakthrough can be when you achieve it. Without words, you can do it. And no, I cannot do this!

Notice I said without words, not with words. This is very important to understand.

This is something that is easy to say but difficult to do. As an example, read what I am about to explain and then try it, before you continue reading. First, look around where you are right now and take in every detail. Once you have done that, take a deep breath in and exhale. This next part is going to be really easy. Close your eyes and have total non-thought. Just have complete silence in your brain. Do not allow pictures or songs to flicker through your head. You control your brain so just shut it down and do not think about anything at all.

Sit that way for about a minute before opening your eyes and continue reading.

After doing this for about a minute you will probably notice, your brain is chattering away, despite any attempts to quite it. It is busy trying to analyze everything and communicate what it is experiencing. Our brains run their own show whether we want them to or not.

It is extremely difficult to do.

Our 6th sense is severely limited when we do not have control of our brains. Our brains always babble and unless we quiet them, we will never be able to understand the language of the Universe. The language of the Universe is beyond everyday language.

Most people believe that when they are mediating they are trying to perfect complete and total non-thought. There must be absolute silence they think. The people who teach or sell these meditations systems believe this too. This is what all of those ancient yogis said you must have non-thought, they meant non-words. They meant we must learn to think differently, using a process without words, not without thought.

We still want to think, but in a way so alien to normal thought, we might as well call it something completely different.

It is more of a way to think in energy. As you work with meditation, the way you experience life becomes clearer.

Over time, you begin to see life with qualities of energy and vibration. Beyond simple seeing, soon you will begin to understand that there is something beyond it all. As you continue to apply the techniques, you will feel the presence of the Universe all around you. This is not as abstract as it sounds. It becomes a very clear, very real experience.

Often you first observe it in nature and general life. When you hear music, birds or a friend's voice, it is as if these sounds are beautiful music, playing in your head, singing through your being. As your 6th sense becomes more active, it enhances your other senses and increases your awareness.

This sounds simple but it changes every moment of your life. Everything you experience becomes fuller, richer.

Imagine doing something you enjoy, like taking a walk through a local park. You feel the breeze on you cheek and hear echos of laughter in the distance. The sun is shining and you capture something in the experience that gives you a sense of peace. It is a simple moment but a pleasurable one.

Now think, what would it be like if I said that the simple experience, without the increased awareness of the 6th sense, is like watching it on television? While you may not realize it, in comparison, is flat, detached and not as real as it can be.

The mind is only doing its job. For me the purpose of meditation is to quiet the mind, to stop the chatter! How do you do that? By controlling it: Thank you, but I don't need you right now!

I understand Rochelle. I said that so many times throughout my life and everyone has their own timetable. I respect your comment and wish you great success with WA.
Take Care,
Marian

I also like looking at the Birds that come to our feeder table in our garden, it sort of puts you into another wave of thinking.

So true Gary! I am sorry I was missing for 10 days, but I was in the hospital. I am home now and will start blogging again today. I appreciate your sharing and comments. I keep my bedroom windows open all year, even in the Chicago's winters, so I can here the birds in the morning and also have a bird feeder so the birds can have food during the winter.
Take care,
Marian

Hi Marian . I love to hear the sound of birds or water.
Thanks for sharing a great blog .

I do, too! I go on 2 to 3 vacations and I am always on the ocean front, so I can hear the waves crashing. It's such get energy. I have my bedroom"s windows open so I can hear the birds in the morning. They are so comforting.
I have been missing in action for about 10 days. I am sorry for that, but I was in the hospital. I am out know and will start blogging today for 6 days straight, so every one can catch up.
Have a great day!
You Friend,
Marian

our brains certainly like to chatter, I get what your saying and I always thought the phrase " be still and know I am god " relates to this communication without words

You are right Katie! My mind likes to chatter too, but what helped me was don't fight the chatter, just let it run through your mind without giving it the power of your emotions. After a while your ego will give up, because it's not getting your attention. Our egos are like a spoiled child.
I am sorry I have been gone for 10 days, but I was in the hospital. I am out know and will start blogging today and every day for 5 or more days to help you catch up.
Thank you for sharing and I hope you have a great day.
Your Friend,
Marian

Your husband did let us know I am glad your home and I hope your making a good recovery.. nice to see you back

Fascinating stuff Marian - if only I could master the art of meditation...

Hi, I had a hard time for a while, but once I stuck to it I saw that I could meditate a little longer each time. My suggestion is to start off with about 10 to 15 min. until you feel comfortable to inc the time by 5 min intervals. Take baby steps and relax. I appreciate your sharing. Thank you. I also want to let you know the reason I haven't been active for 10 days was because I was in the hospital. I am out know and today I will start posting every day. Take care,
Your Friend,
Marian

Hi Marian, sorry for takontaking so long to reply. How are you feeling now? Are you back to your old self? Olive

I agree with Steph. At the moment my brain is running a million miles a min. I know what you are saying and I think it takes practice.

I know what you are saying. I could not sit with my eyes closed for no longer than 5 minutes and that to me was challenging. When I started taking seminars and lectures when I was in Sedona, changed my life. If you continue to read my blog, I will give you the tools to make this process so much easier, without the frustration of meditating the old way.
I appreciate your comments because you help me grow, too.
Take care.
Marian

Thank you Marian. We will wait for your next blog...

This was interesting. But how do we turn off our brains and shut off the world? I tried but cannot do it. Thank you for this bog.

Hi, you don't turn off your brain. In the next few blogs I will show you how to communicate with the Universe by using your energy & connecting with your true spiritual self, instead of using words.
