What Can I Say? Life Happens...

So last week, was OK for me goal-wise. I hit all of them with the exception of the 8 posts I wanted to do. This was not unexpected as I figured I'd only get to a couple of my back-logged posts this week.

Life has been busy. We spent much of the week getting our ducks in a row for court and dealing with unpleasant family issues. To sum it up, my brother-in-law has been verbally and financially abusing my mother-in-law. He's the kind of person that believes everything is owed to him and he deserves it all because he's been wronged by the system. He has substance issues and has been dragging his kids (the grand kids she was raising while he was on his state-sponsored vacations) down his path. We prevailed but the struggle is not yet over.

This Week's Goals

As this family issue will be taking a lot of my time up, I've reduced my post goals from four per week to two. That's the only change I'm planning to make. So, here's the revised goal list:

  1. Write one blog post on WA (this one).
  2. Help five people per day on WA (both in live chat and by answering posted questions).
  3. Write two posts for my sites.
  4. Leave six site comments per day for a total of 30.
  5. Research four quality keywords.
  6. Breakdown the framework for two posts.
  7. Share one WA article on Facebook.

I know the post reduction will slow my progress a bit but I have to be honest with myself and deal with the family needs so it's a sacrifice that I have to make. It just means things will take a bit longer.

OK, now I'm expecting you to hold me to my goals posted here. Of course, I'm also asking you to comment below and share your goals so I can reach out and hold you responsible next week!

Thanks for listening,

Scott

Hey, Scott! Hate that you and your family are having to go through all of that. Not fun at all. Hanging with that kind of schedule despite that is still quite admirable and impressive. Hang in there. You're not alone.

Christine

Hi Scott,

Sorry to hear about the family issues. I am glad that you have set some realistic goals to accomplish this week.

I'd hate to see you get completely off track like happened with me almost two months ago.

Personally, I think it is normal to have periods where our progress does slow down some. It simply a matter of persevering and refusing to give up.

I hope everything turns out well in the long run.

Thanks. I think I'll be on this new, lower article count goal for the next one to two months as we deal with the mess the property is in.

Hi Scott,

Here's my goals for the week. I think doing this really helps us be accountable.

1. Write a minimum of 3 articles (one must be a review) for my SAC site
2. Create a list of positive and negative emotion hot buttons for each post
3. Create a segmented pitch page
4. Start linking existing content to the new pitch page
5. Write a minimum of 3 posts to my social media sites (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest).
6. Help 2 people each day and hop into chat for 15 min a day.
7. Leave at least 4 comments each day.
8. Write 1 WA post.

We'll touch base next week and see how we did.

Cheers,

Michael

Sounds like a plan.

Hey Michael,
How did you do last week on these goals?

Hi Scott,

I did pretty good. The only one haven't finished is my segmented pitch page, so I'll carry that one forward.

How about you?

Nice!

I hit all of mine except for the 30 site comments. I was only able to get 21 in. There just weren't that many requesting them...

That's great! Yes I know what you mean on site comments. Sometimes it depends on the time of day. I have resorted to buying $10 worth a couple times. But, I'd rather be able to earn credits.

My goals for next week are basically the same. I'll hopefully be able to complete two different pitch pages. I got a little overwhelmed with day to day 'life' stuff last week. Plus still not quite over the flu I had a couple weeks back. Just keeps hanging on.

Touch base in a week. Have a great one.

Michael

Life is always full of the unexpected, but the important thing is we work through them, and I am sure you will work through this difficult patch.

As for myself I have not done much of my assignment for this month challenge, I had problems with my website with errors and me being not a technical person, it took me over two weeks to solve the problem, but the problem is solved and I will try to catch up. Wishing you success.

Scott,

Your goals are still very aggressive to be dealing with
family problems of such magnitude. And I would like to
offer my support in any way that you might require.
Just an ear to listen if need be. I am sorry you have to
deal with an adult acting in such a manner especially
towards your mother.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks. I'm the in-law in this so the brunt has been on Joe but I'm doing what I can to support him. I handle most of the logistics...

Scott, that's such a good idea. I will email you in a week and see if you are on course. As for me, I need to do two to three more posts in the next week, and get those hot buttons done. You can check on me...

Now I need to write a blog for here. Always something in the hopper, no?

Sorry about your family issues. We have to take care of life though, so you're doing the right thing by adjusting your goals.

Keep your chin up and do what you can!

Karen

Thanks

Good luck with all the court and family issues. Been there, done that. I dis-owned my two half-sisters after they threw me under the bus to take care of Mom by myself after her massive stroke. They stole $84,000(all of her savings) and never visited her the 8 years she lived after stealing her money. F them.
They even had the gall to show up at her funeral. Pitiful. Glad I am 5000 miles away from them and starting my own family.

Thanks...I think each family has at least one of these. It's a shame really.

That sounds familiar to me Mark. Still caring for my mum. My brothers have basically disappeared. Better without them.

Lily 😊

The big guy upstairs is paying me back big time for taking care of my parents. Mom 8 years with 24-hour care and Dad 5 years with Alzheimer's. Neither of them spent one day in a nursing home. I spent probably $200k out of my pocket for their care and do not regret it one minute. My life rocks right now and I have never been happier.

You are a good man Mark.
Your karma will be good.
Live life and prosper.

Lily 😊

Oh Scott, that's a huge family issue.
I've had the property struggle between my brothers when my mum got dementia. Not fun.

But I'm proud of you keeping your goals in view. This seems doable.

My goal this week is to use my Yoast to correct my 11 posts for better SEO and readability.
Go into Google console for each post and ask to be indexed

Write a cornerstone post on the best female guitarists and put it on Pinterest (my first time) using Kyle's video in Lesson 4

Answer at least 10 blogs in the community everyday.

I hope you have a better week Scott

Lily 😊

Thanks,
The part that bothers me most is she's on a very limited income but was expected to pay all the utilities, buy all of the food, transport the kids everywhere and so on while he did what he does and moves the favor of the month in with their kids, etc.

You should have seen the conditions she was living in...

Oh dear. It's just horrible. At least she has you in there helping now and the children can be protected.
Easier said than done but you are a good man to step in.

I'm afraid it happens a lot here in Australia too. Grandparents raising their grandkids. Women are too easily abused behind closed doors. It's time to end it and celebrate and appreciate these women for their caring hearts.

Keep fighting.

Lily 😊

Hello Lily,
Did you hit your goals last week?

Hi Scott, I hope you are having a better time.
I did all of my goals bar one.
I polished all of my posts in Yoast and had them reindexed.
I answered at least 10 emails a day and wrote one blog here. My ranking is down from a 100 almost to 50
I wrote my famous guitarist content using Yoast and it is indexed

But I haven't been able to put it on Pinterest yet as the training pictures don't match my pinterest screen. I've been struggling with it for 4 days. I found some newer training about adding social pins to my website, so I will try again. I might try from my phone too.

Oh I made a google first page with my first post 3 months ago. I was so surprised.

Wishing you all a better week.

Massive fires near our home atm, so I won't get much done this week.

Lily 😊

That's awesome progress!

You might like this for posting to pinterest: Another option is to use social sharing buttons like Sassy Social Share.

Thanks Scott, I will have a look at them today and get moving again on the lessons.

Take care
Lily 😊

I understand what you are going through. You and your family are in my prayers.
Jerry

Thanks, man. It is what it is and we'll make due. It's just juggling my time that's the hard part, LOL.
