Want to change my url, was told that the url and domain are the same. I don't understand because they both have different wording.

Like Vic62 has rightly said, domain name is just part of a URL

Hi MerleWays,
Yes I think so. Your domain name cannot be changed once registered. That is why you have to put a lot more thought into it before you decide a domain name. Make sure your domain name has your target keyword you want to rank for, even though that is not always the case but it is advisable.

But may I ask why you want to change your domain?

When I first got started, I had an idea, now I feel it wasn't well thought out, and I think I'll be limited in my writing just by my url's wording. Thought I'd re-wotd it. I know better now--think before I write, And Thank you.

Being female I think, now, since that's the perspective I'll be writing from , my url should have. started, "girlsinthehood.."or "boysandgirlsinthehood..."And the doman the same. Instead my domain is saying something totally different..."easinginnercitywoes..." o, my domain & url is..."easinginnercitywoes.com..." and "http://homeboys...com" So, you see my misunderstanding. That's why I think I need to scrap it.Think it's irrepairable.

Ok See! Theres nothing wrong if you purchas a new domain you love. That is best in my opinion.

Your URL and domain are the same

URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. It is the address of a web page. Each page has its own unique web address (URL). This is how your computer locates the web page that you are trying to find. That is a quote that hopefully answers your question. briefly you have bought a registered domain it cannot be changed unfortunately if you want something different you have to buy another one. just like a house you cannot change your house if you want something differen you have to buy another house. Hope this helps

Thank you.

Hi Merle, Just a quick reply before going out.
Your domain name will be what you chose (and possibly purchased) If your domain name is eg. workwithmerle.com then your URL would be http://workwithmerle.com
I hope this makes sense
Victoria

It really does. Thank you so much.
