Mindset is the Key to Life
(Cover Photo: 3 Keys next to each other)
Hi Everyone,
I really believe Mindset is the Key to Life no matter what direction life takes you.
How you think affects everything you do.
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.”
― Henry Ford
Some times I believe our focus is wrong.
Personally, I do not want to be rich.
I do not need to be happy, because under most circumstances good or bad, I am happy, because Happiness is choice and comes from the inside.
What I desire is a great quality of life for my family and I and that does not necessarily mean I need to be earning more money to achieve that.
In fact, we could be earning less if that's what we decided upon.
I try to be prepared for just about anything life can throw my way and its endless what life can do to turn our lives upside down in a heartbeat.
Live Life NOW rather than slaving away in the hopes that 20+ years from now you'll have it made. You are not even promised tomorrow let alone another 20 years.
So many of the things that bring great, happy memories for me only required my time and my heart.
Working for 2 years on my own with prostitutes in Chinatown, Honolulu Hawaii and another 2 years I dedicated to a Spanish woman helping her to improve her life. Both were Priceless experiences.
I was a Big Brother for a year. I enjoyed it a lot.
Just sitting and watching the sunset is a beautiful experience.
I no longer have the money making goals I had while being at WA.
Now its how can I maximize the quality time with my family and pass on my thoughts and ideas to Melissa Jeane so she can have the right Mindset to tackle any of life's challenges that come her way as she grows up.
Especially with the internet, if we don't know how to do something, we can learn quickly whether its a matter of survival or not.
I've even thought about going off grid and live a back to nature way of life. I'm sure we'll incorporate that in small chunks in the future.
Do what you can do develop your mindset if you so choose to do so.
Life can be a lot easier.

It will be different for everybody, but when I try to figure out why I feel happy then, it is because I can appreciate the circumstances I live in by choice or by what you so nicely put "life throws at me." I can see the beauty in nature and people of all sorts. I do not worry about my future (I am lucky because I know there will be enough) and consider my past a school of life. It reached me good and bad things, and I learned from both. I have spent most of my time the last 15 years on the beautiful island of Bali. And the majority of my happiness philosophy is influenced by the mindset of this island's 3 million Hindu population. The Hindu people in Bali hate stress and live to avoid it. Tourists so favor it because of this positive energy, the lush nature, and the mild tropical sea climate,
The photos are amazing. I agree mindset is foundational. At some point, every human faces difficulties minor and as well as life threatening. Mindset is how we work through them. I lived off grid in Canada for a couple of decades and loved it. But, my mindset had to change because, as I got older, the work to live like that became too much. Your article really stimulates thought.

Thanks for sharing Jim! I was thinking of you when I wrote about off grid. I read that somewhere else before.

Hi Mel,
It is serendipitous that Fran Kelso also wrote a post here today about Mindset. You have some touching sentiments about your life's goals. Mia is going to grow up with a great mindset. She is so beautiful.
Our 8-year-old granddaughter is staying with us while her dad sorts out things in his life. I am home-schooling Diana and the experience is priceless. She has become my soulmate. She was way behind in her schooling, With the one on one approach, Diana has made amazing progress and will overtake her classmates. When she returns for the Fall semester, her school will get a pleasant surprise.
The important thing in life is creating a legacy for our kids and the world we live in. Mel, you have been doing this and continue to do so. I commend you for this.
All the best to you in life.
Edwin
Thanks Edwin!
You can't beat homeschooling in my opinion. I homeschooled my 3 daughters in USA through grade school and they all turned out great.
I'm happy you are able to experience that with Diana.
