How do I change the DNS settings so that I can verify that I own the website from Wealthy Affiliate? I've tried everything instructed and it still wont verify that I'm the owne

You should have to change the DNS to verify that you're an owner. Usually they'll have you send an email from the domain name extension, or upload an HTML file

If you just want to change your DNS though, you can do that in SiteDomains: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains under "Settings" for that domain.

So you just need to put in the DNS from blogger into the Nameserver slots and that'll point your website to the new host.

That being said, make sure you move all your files FIRST! I'm not sure if they are assisting with the move.

Also, I wasn't aware the Blogger had hosting, so just make sure that you are moving your website to an actual host. Blogger usually does free websites, so they may not be able to host your premium domain. I'm not sure what you have going on their end. Just wanted to make sure you're doing it right!

Hope this helps Melissa!

Hi Nathaniell, thank you for all of your help over the past few months. I wish you the very best in the future :)

If you are not making money from your sites, I can definitely take a look! I see that you started your account a while ago, so you are probably familiar with the training. however, there's always something we can do to get more traffic, or increase conversions.

Have you started making sales yet, even if it's just one or two? If so, that's an awesome start. It means you're doing something right, and we can look at how to multiply that to increase your sales. Shoot me a PM or respond here and I'll see what I can help out with!

Hi Nathaniell, I'm going to write a few posts tonight ready for the next few weeks and by then hopefully things are looking a bit better on my site. I'll be in touch soon for the assistance, thank you so much :)

No problem Melissa! Hope to hear from you soon. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you have along the way!

As soon as I read your question I knew you were in the six month mark.

So many quit at your stage becuase they don’t realize that if you just keep blogging for the next six months, your business will look so much different.

Another mistake you’ve done is creating multiple sites when all your work should be focused on one. The more sites you have to work on the slower the progress.

It took me 19 months to hit a 4 digit income (see all my progress on my profile) and my site didn’t take off til after 12 months, one site I worked on.

Read this:

Thank you for the advice, I've decided to keep going with it till I reach at least a year and then see how things are going. I was just feeling a little demotivated but I know the income will take time to start rolling in :) I also loved ready your blog posts, they really made me see things in a different light and I hope I'm in your position a year from now :)

You're welcome, good luck to you. :)

It really depends on your goals and how long you give yourself to reach them, and what you actually do to reach them. As you have a number of sites, it might be time to determine should you focus on getting additional training here in WA (WA members come out with training all the time) and use that training (plus the training you already done plus your experience in building websites) to help you figure out your next move.

Have a look at some of the training provided by WA member @botipton

He talks about having clear CTAs etc and he also has some tips on how to get traffic, however only after making sure that your website is ready for these visitors

Hello, Melissa.

I don't know your situation, but please review this blog post to see if something there will help you to sort things out or even suggest alternatives.

I've been there.

Joshua

Hello,

I posted this in response to your personal blog post but thought I'd share here for you as well.

You can transfer your site & domain to a new host. No problems there. However after you pass the intro rates for that host, you'll be paying around the same cost of WA but only getting web hosting.

However, as someone who has been here for 6 years now I can tell you it does take time to start earning money. Wealthy Affiliate is not a get-rich-quick scheme. What is taught here is how to build an online business. It took me roughly a year to start seeing real profits through my website and once I hit that point the only direction things could go was up.

I know this is probably the worst suggestion I could give someone who wants to cancel because they've spent more than they have earned - but I highly suggest the yearly membership. While it is more money up front, you are essentially only paying for 7 months out of the year as compared to the monthly rate.

I can see you've only been here for 6 months by your profile badge. 6 months is really the first true hurdle you'll face, and arguably the hardest to clear.

For myself, and most other internet marketers I've met, 6 months is when momentum really starts to increase and results start to flourish. You just need to be persistent and keep adding new, helpful content to your site.

The community here at WA is second to none. You won't find a more supportive group with both members and founders who put so much time and energy into each others success.

Might I ask what your niche is? Did you go with OEC and choose your own niche or did you choose Affiliate Bootcamp and go with the make money online (MMO) niche? Moreover, if you went with MMO, what is your specific niche?

I'd be happy to help provide some pointers/feedback if you'd like.

With all that said, if you truly feel that this isn't the lifestyle you want to achieve, I understand. This isn't for everybody. It doesn't provide the same instant gratification that a 9-5 with weekly or biweekly paychecks does. And I 100% understand the frustration that can cause.

So to answer your post's initial question - should you decide you want to leave, you can transfer everything to a new host so as to not lose your work thus far.

Best,
- Dev

As others have said you can take them and have them hosted elsewhere , just be aware you will have to pay for that and a lot of time extras like security and what not that is included here is not included there . Also make you do the move in the first 30 days of cancelling because after that your site here is gone and you sadly won’t be able to get it back .

I personally have decided to give it a solid year amdvthan re-evaluate .... if I am not making enough to at least cover my costs than I’ll need to see what needs to be tweaked . Honestly though even at that point I’ll probaby just tweak the site or niche and stay here ( regardless 1 year , this site and at wealthy affiliates)

You say you are not making money , are you getting traffic? , do you have google analytics set up ? I have been seeing a slow and steady increase in traffic to my site and I do even have affiliate links up yet but it’s enough to keep me motivated. If your not seeing traffic than you may need to trouble shoot further .... keywords ? Too many affiliate links? Not enough links? Pictures, need longer posts ?

I am quite sure with some more facts the people here can troubleshoot if it’s a “ not getting traffic issue” if your getting traffic and it’s just not converting yet than maybe a light revise to make sure your links are fully accessible to people browsing .... in any case if your getting the traffic I would say you are very close.

I like your point here about having to pay for extras with different hosting companies. I hadn't thought of that, and as you say things like that are all included here.

It’s one of the main reasons I plan to stick around even if by some chance my niche ends up a total bust ( I honestly don’t think it will and can’t wait to see how it’s doing in a year ) . And you can host 12 so if you get the first running good and you have time you can start another and another . As I replace my current job with my online ventures I plan to have at least 5 and publish on them weekly, but one at a time slow and steady .

Thank you for the advice, I've decided to keep going with it till I reach at least a year and then see how things are going. I was just feeling a little demotivated but I know the income will take time to start rolling in :)

Hi Melissa,
It's easy to get discouraged. I have had my site live now for a little over 2 months, and maybe only 1 organic visitor. It takes time and persistence. Are you adding content 2-4 times per month? Are you taking advantage of the WA community for advice and guidance? Each site is going to vary with when they start to generate income. I say stick with it for the year and look back to assess how much effort you put in and what your accomplishments were.

Good luck and much success,
Matt

Hi Melissa

I have been feeling similar regarding my website. It takes a lot of time and effort, plus the fees, and as yet I have seen no return. I thought I was the only one feeling this way.

I am even starting to question my niche, and it is making me feel like giving up and trying something else.

I hope you make the right decision, that is right for you.

All the best

Ruth

Yeah I totally understand how you are feeling, hopefully things pick up for us and we will soon be making a good income in the next few months :)

You will be missed. But before You go, take a breather and when You get the time. Brief through this article as It has some valid points I think You'd appreciate hearing: Also, let me know if this helped You in any way.
If not, what would? You see, we're all so busy building our life and provide for Our family that we may not have seen that You've been in need of some serious assistance.

Here's also a bonus article where You get to turn around the mirror on Your own process: Relax. Review. Recess.
I'll be here if there's anything You need.

EDIT: As I visited Your profile, I notice how You haven't had a single message on Your profile wall since 4 months back.
It is important to understand that WA can be of great benefit and should be included in Your journey. Otherwise You WILL feel lonely, and will most likely give up in half-a-year and start to look elsewhere.
Luckily, there's hope! - As this is not how you build a business, You now have room to improve and perhaps We can help You achieve Your hopes and dreams. But it all starts with You. :-)

For we can only do 'as much'. - We can Provide You with the tools and the material, but YOU will have to do the; digging, the building and the stabilization to keep it all from falling apart and turn into crumbles.

All the best, Melissa.

Hi Melissa, you can cancel your membership any time, of course, and take the website with you. But you would have to find another hosting service and pay for that. Also, you wouldn't have access to all the helpful trainings and tips and couldn't get questions answered quickly. I think you only joined end of 2017 so your website is still quite young. Would be so sad if you gave up now as you might be very close to your breakthrough. If I was you, I would give it a year at least and then decide whether to stay or leave. After all, a year's membership at WA is cheaper than many one-day face-to-face training courses.

Thank you for the advice, I've decided to keep going with it till I reach at least a year and then see how things are going. I was just feeling a little demotivated but I know the income will take time to start rolling in :)

Definitely the right decision, Melissa. I'm sure you will be rewarded for your perseverence.
