So I have noticed for the past 2 days that on my google analytics the Audience overview numbers are lower than the Acquisition report for the same day. For example when I look

Each uses different criteria for that measurement. They won't ever agree. It's just important that they aren't too different.

Okay thank you. I was just curious.

Unable to help

That is okay thank you anyways.

Google reports the way they do. That's what we get. I have the same experience so I just live with it. Hope you feel ok?

tom

Thank you Tom

Hey Melissa,

Might this explain the oddity you are experiencing: https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/Google-Analytics-Reports/Why-do-the-numbers-in-acquisition-overview-not-match-up/td-p/1650957

Hope this helps you.

Thank you very much dear I will take a look at these.

Maybe the one shows the number of unique viewers and the other the number of total visits, e.g. if one viewer visited twice it's only shown as once whilst the other counts it as 2 viewers.

Maybe but I just know this has never done this before and I had people visit my sites multiple times. Hmmm thank you maybe this is it.

not sure as I don't check this often.

Thank you.

I just checked mine, and it was accurate with a whopping 1 visitor! Did you make sure to change the date to todays?

They both have the same date on them. They have always matched before.

So I was checking out the oneLink on Amazon. If I was to use this do I just put in the footer widget and then it goes through all my pages on its own?

I think the sidebar sounds best. Good luck,

tom

Thank you Tom.

I your theme has a footer, then whatever you add to the footer will display on every page of your site - same goes for the sidebar.

Test it out and see how it looks, worse case scenario it doesn't site well...then 'delete' =)

Good luck - Orion

so very true. Thank you Orion. I guess I was also trying to see what Amazon would accept as okay too.

This video shows you how to put code in the header For the Amazon OneLink, you need to use the same plugin but paste the code into the Footer.

Thank you Marion. I will view this. Is the oneLink better than just using the regular links? I am not sure I am reaching different countries and that is why I was looking at it.

You'll need to apply to Amazon in every country you want to promote if you haven't established those accounts yet.

Thank you I am not sure if I did. Would the oneLink do this automatically?

No. You have to apply to each country as, even though they are all Amazon, they are separate businesses. And they pay separately.

Okay thank you so much for helping to clear this all up. Have a lot better idea of what I am doing now. Very much appreciate it

If you put it in the footer widget it will display on each and every page on your site at the bottom of each page, you may want to consider putting it on your sidebar using a widget that also displays on every page.

Thank you.

Maybe in the sidebar

Thank you Steven.

Good question. I will follow this since you are ahead of me in training. Thanks for asking.

Hopefully we will both get an answer.

A footer usually appears on every page in the site. Anything put in the widget will show up on every page as a footer. Just test it out (or test with any simple text first).

I guess I don't have a footer on my theme then. Thank you

Still working on it Tolini and Loes have some great information.

That is too funny but so true

Where do I have to go to get this new GDPR plug in? And do I need to deactivate any other plugin(s) on the same site(s)?

go to this blog and they have 2 or 3 blogs going on about all of this information.

Thank you, Melissa

You are welcome if you start working on it and get stuck let me know in a pm I will be glad to help. I am doing that with someone else.

Good question Mel. This is my take on it. If the GDPR plugin does the job its suppose to and is directly related to GDPR, which I assume it is, then I would keep that, as long as its compatible with your version of WordPress

For now, I would if it was me temporarily delete the other one.

Melissa, this might not answer your specific question but I will contribute this information for those worrying about complying with GDPR by the deadline.

WordPress 4.9.6 update will be out soon. Among other things it will provide a rough draft of a GDPR privacy policy. It will also detect the way we track visitors based on our theme and plugins. It will also take care of adding a link in the comments area.

Whether your audience is EU specific or not, I would not stress about it at this point. Although the deadline is May 25, 2018, nothing dramatic will happen if we haven't implemented the policy fully by then.

Bear in mind that plugin creators, theme creators and autoresponder providers are also required to comply, so no doubt they will include the necessary options in their updates for us to "tick".

~Jude

thank you Jude this is very helpful and really a new perspective.

Following conversations too. I'm completely lost.

sounds good

You know what I'm all confused about this new EU policy as well. So, after we generate this new EU policy do we just link it to the original privacy policy or how does one go about doing this?

Milissa, I hope some one can help. LOL I'm reading conflicting post that it's only effect EU. Some said that it's better to be safe then sorry.

Kyle responded to Stefan post and he doesn't seem to be too worry.

Well I know Loes also has a post and it shows even if you don't have EU visitors you may still want to add if they do show up. I didn't see where Kyle showed up I will go check this out.

He replied on this post.

Thank you and I see what you mean. I guess I will try to get this sorted out.

I thought Kyle seems quit concerned, especially for those who choose to simply ignore the rules.

I can see that as well. But the part I was saying is where he was talking about they can't get everyone at once and that if you were trying it was better than ignoring it. That is the part I was describing.Thank you for your insight as well

True!

For me I am taking it seriously and working on it. I know I don't have that kind of money to hand out even at a slim possibility.

That's all we can do is try.

Hi Melissa

Please see the picture attached.

If you click on the "Affiliate" button on any blog post, video or training, it will give you a link which already has your WA affiliate ID embedded into it. If you send that link to somebody and they join WA, they are your referral. My very first WA referral was from a few links that I've send to my Sis - I wrote about it here: BUT, if you simply click on the URL and send that to them, your WA ID will not be embedded and the person who wrote the post / training, will get the referral.

Therefore it is very important to remember to always use the Affiliate button instead. ;-)

Hope this helps!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Thank you Sharlee. I appreciate your helped it is more clear now.

If you shared it from your affiliate link appearing on that page, you get the credit. If someone joins from finding the post on Google, then the content creator would get the credit.

Okay that makes perfect sense thank you so much.

Yes, that's exactly right, it's yours as long as you share the post using the Affiliate link. If you copy the link from the bar at the top of the page, the referral will be given to the person who wrote the post.

Janelle

Thank you Janelle. I appreciate your help.

you grab your affiliate link from the top of the blog to promote it so you get the credit.

I believe the advice for this is tread with care - It might be a legitimate approach to you but I would certainly ask for more info before you make any firm decision.

This person is the only one I can find that fits the bill -

Mark Vogel
President, Vogel Marketing Solutions LLC

Using my 35 years of experience in all aspect of marketing, I employ the concept of One-on-One Marketing through the integration of email marketing, social media and Internet marketing. This strategy includes:
• Data mining: we help inventory all sources of useful data, coalesce that data into a single Master Database, analyze the records and make recommendations on leveraging this valuable resource.
• Segmentation: each target audience has different triggers, so we help you split markets by a potentially infinite number of variables to ensure they receive relevant messaging.
• Message development: following that segmentation and analysis, we help you create relevant, personalized and timely marketing communications.
• Message delivery: we can help manage your one-on-one marketing campaigns, to ensure the right message is delivered to the right person at the right time in the right way.
• Integration: every person, place and thing at your company is a marketing outlet. We identify all on- and off-line opportunities and help integrate them into a closed-loop system.

You could always ask him.

Be careful whatever you do.
Robert

Thank you Robert. This has been very helpful.

No probs Melissa.
Its probably not him but no harm in asking the sender of the email if it is or not then he will be obliged to give you more info on who he actually is.
Robert

Be careful, very very careful. With all the identity theft issues and compromised information, I would do some research before finalizing any decision.

Thank you identity theft hasn't even crossed my mind. I will make sure first. Thank you.

Hi Melissa: It sounds like he wants to advertise your post.
Probably for a fee.

I did kind of get that vibe. But I didn't understand why he didn't ask about doing that. Thank you.

It would be considered spam if he ask directly but hes waiting for a query from you as to why he is contacting you. Once you inquire , then it won't be considered spam because you ask. Just a thought

Melissa hello,
I agree 100 % with Cath 88. I would be over cautious and read the reviews about their services even though sometimes they mean nothing. Let's assume that they really have this internet-centered community consisting of over 48,000,000 people but are they located in areas that have potential to buy your services or products? The world is an internet center community but I would prefer to pay more but servicing my defined market area.
Marcus

Thank you Marcus for your insight. I can see from everyone's response this is something to really check and double check before I even think about it. Thank you

Melissa I will be using email marketing within one or two months and I have to find the right one to me. If I come across ones that I feel there are good I don't mind at all sharing. We don't compete with each other and the market whatever it is yours is huge.
Success
Marcus

if it sounds too good to be true... but maybe call the phone number for the heck of it and don't give out any information .... and try not to use your cell so that number is not out in public

Thank you I hadn't even thought about not using my cell phone. Very much appreciate your help and insight.

There are some good answers below, giving good advice. If it helps this is my approach

I google the company first, then depending on what the results are, depends on what action I take next.

Then I check Linkedin, to see if the person /company are on Linkedin

Then I would send is an email to the sender, copying what they wrote directly into an email

Depending on the answer, I then go further.

This is a good idea but I am not seeing a specific company though that is where I am a little lost and he isn't directly stating why he is contacting me either. These things bother me.

Not seeing a specific company through google and /or linkedin?

if that is the case, then I would move on with what you are doing, or provide a skype contact address for phone chat

If that fails then, dismiss

This is my exact approach as well. And I just went and did some preliminary googling from her pasted email and am not finding anything supporting credibility here... Im very skeptical of anyone who claims to have or offer significant networking opportunity or accesss to a huge base but doesn’t actually have an easily locatable web presence.

Very sound and good advice

I have received this email before but have just deleted it. Never thought about it until I read the name at the end. That's what reminded me of it.

Tried and True

Elaine

Hmm okay. That helps out as well thank you.

Hi Melissa,

I would be cautious since there are many scammers, as you already know. I do not know if this one is legitimate or not.

You can give them a call and see if they are able to answer the questions you pose to them. Do they have a website that you can visit?

Maybe other members can inform you if they've had any dealings with this company/individual.

Cathy

Yes they have provided a phone number but I am not seeing a website. I wanted to kind of get the feel of what others had to say before I called but I do plan on calling today. Thank you. I am leeriryof the scammers.

I would stay away. Look for affiliate program on your own and stay away from potential "shiny object" programs like this. I also caution because of the obvious broken English of this email.

So you think he is a possible affiliate? Cause this post he is mentioning I already have an affiliate on there.

It looked like 'leads management' company.
If it is free, which I doubt, why not.
That will gives your promotions exposure to 48m people and there must be potential for your product. I believe it is a paid subscription.

Can you check, what are the demog of their subscribers. (:) )

Okay so he might be wanting to advertise my post? But it may cost? I am not sure where to check this out. He really doesn't mention a business name. His email is addressed from him personally.

Nothing to lose.
Bad me - I always want to hit back to scammers that come into my mail by asking questions like how much, how do I verify you, any proof, any testimonial. If he is really a scammer, he will stop. DO NOT commit anything at this juncture. Or if you think this a time waster, delete it and move on. :)
