I can't access my webmail. I need to check to see if I have email from an important client. Why is your website down?

Did you check with SiteSupport?

Yes. They got back to me.

I'm getting notifications that there are new users on my website that I have no idea. I feel like my site is compromised, but I don't know what to do about it. Any ideas?

Carson, Here is an email notification I just received on my site with the box unchecked. There is no sign of them on the site, so I am wondering if they are just spam messages that do not relate to actual accounts created? Any idea? Seems they know there is an account on Wordpress ...
Can't attach the screenshot as getting an error message the image is too small????

Here is the screenshot

Hi Melinda,

Log into your website back office and click on "Settings" from the main menu, then choose "General". You'll want to remove the check mark under "Anyone can register". Your site is not compromised but you do not want to have this option turned on unless you want to allow people to join the site.

Hope this helps.

Carson

You probably have a tick in the anyone can register section. Here is a great training from Loes that will help you out. Andre

If you go into the backend and click on the User tab in the Admin Sidebar ... these user names will not show up! They are spambot registrations that some jerks use to create accounts, but are not approved so they just sit there in limbo. Very annoying but I am not aware of a way to prevent them.

When I set my website up, I called it Free Affiliate marketing tips and tricks. The domain is melindacurle.com. I have since decided to go into copywriting and changed the home

Your website title should be the user-friendly version of your domain name. Anything else would only confuse your readers.

Go to Settings > General and change the Site Title to Melinda Curle and change the tagline to Captivating Copywriting.

I agree. I didn't mean to confuse people. I set up the Free affiliate marketing tips and tricks a long time ago when I had a different idea for the website.

Is this supposed to be in wordpress? I have changed the site title in wordpress already and I still have the old tab showing up.

Check the settings in your SEO plugin. It may still be showing the old title. Always remember to click on the Save button when you make changes.

Melinda, you can install a plugin tinyMCE advanced, see link below

Thanks!

That's an interesting question because I didn't know you could change it. Learning something new. Thanks for asking that!

Hi,
You can highlight your links in the wordpress editor by left clicking and scrolling over the text you want to change the color of, then use the colour section tab in wordpress to change the color of the links, some themes do color links automatically but not all.

If you also want to underline your links then highlight the text, then press Ctrl & U together to underline as wordpress took this away from the editor on a recent update.

Hope this helps you out :)

You can change the colour before you actually make the text a link.
Simply done from your colour dropdown within the little menu when you have the article in Edit Mode.
There is also a code you can insert when you are in 'Customize' but not every theme has this function.
Robert

I'm not seeing a feature to change the color i the edit mode. I tried to customize it, but it doesn't look like this theme has that feature.

It should have when you have your post/page in Edit Mode

You highlight a relevant piece of text

click on the little triangle

choose Blue

The highlighted text changes to Blue

I don't know if it is my version of wordpress, but mine doesn't look like that. I've worked in wordpress when it looked like that, but the websites that I set up in WA just have the top line of options for text.

Ok you options are limited, but you can add more.
Read this blog of mine very carefully and follow the instructions Step By Step and you will add more functionality to your Menu In Edit Mode - Enjoy your Friday.
Robert
PS
Why don't you 'Like' my replies, I'm trying to help you?

I didn't know you were supposed to like replies all the time. I tend to randomly do it and often forget.

No you don't have to like at all.
In fact a lot of members do not do this simply because they concentrate 100% on why they are here and that is to learn how to make money online.

BUT

You may not be aware of this but it’s a good idea (again only if you want to) to click the 'Like' icon within a comment if you like it as I have done with yours.
Obviously you don't have to click every single comment or you will be here all day doing nothing but.
But to click the ones you like that are replies to your own comments will be reflected in your WA ranking because it shows you are getting involved with the community.

As I said above a lot of members aren't worried what their rank is so please don't feel obligated on my behalf.
Enjoy your day.
Robert

You can change any element of your website using CSS (Cascading Style Sheet). If you are talking about links in the body of your site, it's normally using 'a' selector.

Most theme these days has the option for customization. Look at the top page and see if you can locate customize. Within, there's a tab called CSS.

Just type this CSS line
a {color: #yourcolor hashtag;}

How to find hashtag for a color?
Go here > https://www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_picker.asp

e.g.
a {color: red;}
a {color:#c6c6c6;}

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Joe

I typed that in, and the links are now blue, but only when you put the cursor on them. Otherwise, they are black with an underline on them.

If you can share your site (pm me) I should be able to give you the right code. Just the site not the log in. So you are safe. LOL

Now the blue is when you hover it...called a hover.

Thanks a bunch!
