My First Podcast Appearance

Now I have to say upfront I am only a guest on this podcast. But that said I have never ventured into this avenue before so hence i am excited and nervous at the same time.

It will be a great experience should I wish to do more in the future. and maybe create my own... who knows :)

The podcast is actually my sons and its all about depression, he has this and as part of helping him cope with it he started a podcast. Tonights eposide is all about families and dealing with depression. So Dad and Sister are on tonight. EEEEEKKKK!

I am hugely proud of him for taking what he is going through everyday and helping others. (Must have got that from his Dad the helping others part)

Of course our comfort zone is unque to everyone so ...

What have you done recently that has sent you out of your comfort zone?

Let me know in the comments below ... this could be anything you like but hey let's all give you the credit you deserve and a pat on the back.

May we all venture out of our comfort zone and experiment with life more often... Easier said than done of course.

This is an encouraging piece to muse over with. The enlightening humor is the son's helping others part taking after the dad and that's exactly a characteristic that everyone needs to take a cue from.

We're unique in helping others and this ultimately triggers the vestiges of Success hurling in.

You are just ONE FOOT short of hitting the gold nuggets and I wanna follow you on this.

Coming out from my Comfort Zone now
Cheers!

Thanks for comments of course you are so right there

:)

Hmm... you might get the podcast bug! What an awesome idea your son had in doing podcasts. Some of my friends and colleagues do podcasts and have developed quite a following. Will be interested to see where this takes you, Martin.

Seems like I do things regularly and often daily that are out of my comfort zone. Being in healthcare and doing on call work easily brings situations that take me out of my comfort zone.

I've set up a YouTube channel and am taking action with that. When my business friends started doing podcasts, I gave serious consideration to getting the training and the equipment to do them too, but my biz partner was diagnosed with cancer, so my free time drastically changed. Right now, I'm thinking that YouTube might work better for me---which is a new adventure out of my comfort zone. :)

Keep us posted on how the podcasts are coming along!
Colleen

Hi Colleen Podcast was done last night so should be up some when today. After initial nerves I did forget the mics were there.

Not sure it's for me to do though but hey you never know where things take you.

Sounds like you have your hands full with work and your friend, but great that you are pushing the boundaries with You Tube.

I wish you every success with this and trust your biz partner can beat this cancer.

Martin

Hey Martin, that's excellent and good luck to your son. I recently appeared on my good friends radio slot. That was a bit daunting, because he even had me sorting out a track list as well.

I always feel you get a great sense of achievement when you do things out of the norm.

Graham

Hey Graham, Oh radio that's even worse for the nerves than podcasts.

Like you say though you do feel amazing when you have done something out of your comfort zone.

Martin

I'm not sure Martin, I think they are on a par, the trick I think is to talk as natural as possible and don't worry about making mistakes.
My friend had been pushing me for a while, so I finally gave in. Its certainly good experience. I've still not plucked up the courage to do video presentations yet though - so you are way ahead of me!

Graham

Sometimes we need a gentle push to do things.

Video is easier as you can pre record and of course edit which is always a plus.

Some days it feels like everything is out of my comfort zone! LOL

I can't think of a single thing, but congrats to you on stepping out of yours and doing this with your son. What a great thing he is doing! I bet it helps many people!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Ha ha I know what you mean Karin, the main thing is you get through those days :)

Yes so proud of him and he has had so much support from friends and family. And amazing feedback from others that are going through similar.

Martin

Wow! Your son is the perfect role model. How old is he? I am so impressed.
I believe Our comfort zones keep us trapped from our real potential. I say trash our comfort zones and find freedom to discover our explorer and liberated adult!
Liberated adults become masters and find their genius. We can all do this.
What is the difference between a podcast and a webinar?
Love this blog. Please let us know how it went and what you discovered.
Cheers AJ

Yes very proud of him AJ he is 25 now but been suffering from about the age of 12.

Totally agree with you on ditching the comfort zone we all have the potential to be what ever we want, but few ever reach that point.

Podcast are audio only is a discussion format where as webinars are normally audio and visual with only one or two presenters.

The podcast was recorded live last night, after a nervous start I seemed to forget that the mics were there. I think we all learnt a lot about our family and how mental illness can not only pull families closer together but it can tear families apart.

Talking is certainly the way to go. Long may his podcast help others to cope with this debilitating illness.

Martin

Thank you for sharing. Happy it went well. Cheers AJ

Pleasure :)

Stepping out of my comfort zone today in going to help Big Rock Beer at a beer festival. I have never served beer before! Do not drink much either but they tell me it will be fun. Not a super outgoing person so this should be interesting at least!

I am sure you will fantastic

Stepping out every day here on the coast of Ecuador, because we have to use our Spanish language skills, takes us out of our comfort zone. But it is so much fun, too!
C & P

Wow indeed language can be a barrier you have to get over...

Interesting question...since I suffer from severe anxiety and depression issues just leaving home to go to work several days a week is pushing the envelope for me!
Joining WA was huge, and one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Thanks for starting the conversation!

KyleAnn

Indeed hats off to you my son battles every time he leaves the house. Well done on winning the daily battle and great to have you here on WA.

Stuart

Way to go Stuart, maybe next year :)

Umm... ummm... emailing famous psychedelic researcher James Fadiman asking him to write an introduction for my almost-finished book on when I was an LSD research subject. He never wrote back but at least I tried!

Like you say Rosana, at least you did it... well done for that :)

Oooo, interesting! I would read that book :) Feel free to PM me with the name so I can keep an eye out. It was brave to reach out, hopefully you hear something back.
