I thought GitHub was a place for code. however, if you have a site there you can try and forward the domain you bought here at WA with the url of where your code is a GitHub.
Yes, websites are written with code. Github is a platform for developing such code, which includes websites. They will also host very simple static pages there. I have such a site to practice on.
