This very question has been confusing me. I've had differing and conflicting opinions on this subject. So just drop your thoughts and reason supporting your view on the subject

Those who think they know the answer are actually guessing. Google will never say.

I do not think about keyword density at all.

That's interesting, thanks

Jovo, this was a comprehensive post by Robert A that I remembered the information from, who is usually very knowledgeable and thorough in his research on the topic: You may not agree with this, but in his post he says to use no more than 3-10% keyword density, To err on the side of caution, I say 3%. Since you are only best using a few of your best keywords in the first 2 paragraphs of your post, you would not breach that % anyway.

However, with so many frequent algorithm changes, yes you are right to a degree, there is always some guesswork involved. We can all take the information, and draw our own conclusions.. .

Have you seen Jay's latest tutorial? He says use it only once.

Great advice :)

Thanks Chris.

Which advice?

I have always heard that too many keywords would get penalized. It looks unnatural and the flow of your writing would be choppy.
Maybe Google will never say it but common sense should prevail.

I agree Chris.

I could show you Kyle's lines in PM to me with quite a different view, you would be surprised, I was. So there are different opinions about this issue.

Carefully placed and used for sure

I've been told do not breach 3% density. Or Google may view it as "keyword stuffing" and penalize you.
.
Use your main low comp keyword in your meta title and the within the first 2 paragraphs of your article, then write naturally from there. You will be good.

Nice, thanks

Some say 1-2 % is good but is no big concern. It's an out dated concept anyways.
Cheers.

Noted, thanks

No worries, I was rephrasing Bruce Clay an authority in the field. Using it once is a safer and easier option, and I would not worry too much.
SEO is more of a trial and error in the beginning, but slowly you gain insights on what works and what does not, and find your techniques. The baseline is to keep your on-page SEO straight and keep tracking as you work your way up the ranks and traffic!
Cheers.

Natural writing is much more important than keyword density nowadays.
