The word "hack" in internet marketing usually refers to a shortcut. It's not necessarily a bad thing. For instance, if someone shows you an easier way to get traffic to your website by changing the size of your font or the color scheme of your website. But, if someone offers you software to make your optin form pop up on someone else's web page (called jacking), or get a thousand likes for 10 dollars from some a thousand dummy email accounts - those are black hat hacks and the type most people warn you about avoiding. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
Some software hacks work extremely well. But if it seems like unethical activity, it usually is. Even if Facebook or Google haven't caught on to a new scheme, it's only a matter of time. Once you're caught, you more likely than not banned from being listed on their site. So, with any kind of :hack" traffic" or otherwise, use good judgement. People who game the system hurt EVERYONE.
