Progress update 3: first organic Amazon sale, Pinterest and more
Some updates about my progress. I know many people like to read about what others are doing. I keep this journal mostly to remind myself what I did, so I don't feel like nothing is happening.
It feels like exhausting mountain climbing, that's why this cover picture.
1. Pinterest
Here is the picture of my best performing pin. The most depressing pin gets the most traffic. I'm still wondering why - is it the design or the topic that gets attention. For a Pinterest beginner like me, 2.6k views and 74 clicks are a lot.
Getting accepted to relevant group boards is a hard work. Most of the board owners don't reply, even if the description of the board says they accept new contributors. Maybe they don't like me yet, as I'm new.
Till now, I've created 17 pins. Need to do more. At least 4 pins per post.
Here is the Pinterest traffic I've got:
2. Amazon - first organic sale with $2 fee.
I've got my first organic Amazon sale. Someone bought a dog harness. I didn't promote this product, but you know how Amazon works -24 hours cookie.
I regret I didn't manage to publish posts with Amazon links before the holidays.
What I wonder is if the awareness about cashback websites will hurt Amazon Affiliates. I promote one of these websites myself. If someone uses it, the sale wouldn't be credited to Amazon affiliate.
Personally, I always save items to wishlist and then use a cashback site to move them to my shopping cart, as I want to get some money back. Sorry, all Amazon Affiliates who never get anything from me.
3. Bing sign up
Kyle says Bing/Yahoo is accountable for about 33% of traffic. So finally I set up my website on Bing Webmaster and started fetching the posts.
4. Email list
It's not growing. Two freebies I've added to the site didn't help yet.
And I don't send anything to my existing subscribers, except new posts. Need to create some welcome email series at least.
5. New post
I've published a new post about healthy habits at work, with Amazon links in it. Need to add more content.
That's it for now.
Happy New Year to all WA friends! May the next year bring you a success you are waiting for!

Enjoyed your article Mary. It is encouraging to hear how other WA members are doing. That’s one of the many things I like about WA, real people telling their own real story. There is a lot of. B.S.’ers posting and selling lies on the internet, it is wonderful to hear the truth from good people. Keeping up the good work. All the best.
Yep. On the net it always looks like everyone else is doing great and making thousands.
The reality is different. It takes a looooot of time and effort to get anywhere.
At least, the learning is refreshing experience

Here's to success in 2019!!

Wow! You've been busy, Mary! :-)
I think the sad thing about your Pin is that a lot of people do have that problem. Still, if your post helps them, that';s a good thing.
Well done on all your accomplishments. They can only go upwards! :-)

Hi Ian,
It's shockingly sad how many people have credit card debts.
I'll make another pin for it to see if the topic is what brings traffic.
And of course, I try to help a bit in this situation.
The really weird thing about CC debt is that in many cases people can get far, far cheaper loans from other sources (offten their bank) but because CC is so easy they don't look and continue to pay through the nose.
A couple of friends of mine paid fo their wedding on CC at a criminal rate of 49%!!! They earn good money and have a good credit history but didn't think to consolidate it. Ah well...
Ignorance, unfortuantely, along with customer intertia lays a large part in this sort of thing (although,of course, not in all cases).

49%????? OMG!! Inconceivable!
For me, it's not about the crazy rates. First of all it's about buying things that you don't really need or can afford.
Impressing others with shiny brands became too important.
Yep, 49%!
A lot, as you say, is to do with living within your means, so I only have a small amount of sympathy for people who go overboard. But CC is such an easy form of credit.
I have another friend - yeah, you'll be sick of my friends before long! - who spends on CC but is quite happy to pay the £5 or £10 a month to keep it going even though he's paying 10 or 12% more for goods than he need to.
Hey ho...
Ian
