How To Organize Your Blog Post Ideas Using Trello

There's this cool free tool called Trello.

It's an awesome visual tool that allows you to manage multiple projects using lists.

Each project starts with a "Board". Here's a pic of some of my current boards -

And if you're a list maker like I am, it's a dream come true :)

Here's a way you can use it to organize your blog post ideas. I used to have ideas written down all over the place, and of course couldn't find them when I wanted them!

So, I create a Board for each blog that I have. When you click on the board, you go to a stack of lists or cards that belong to that board/project. Below is a pic with an example of how you could use Trello to organize ideas for blog posts.

As you can see, I have 6 stacks of lists, or cards. When I come up with a possible idea for a blog post, I add a card under Post Ideas. Then, I move the card over into different stacks as that idea progresses into a post, or, I can delete it completely if I decide I don't want to create a post from that topic.

It's simple to move cards around - just move it over with your mouse. There are tons of color coding options inside too!

Also, behind each card, you can store any number of things. You can have text, lists, it's endless really.

There are just so many uses for this program - and it's free!

Glad I could be of help!

Brian

Thanks for sharing. Glad its working for you.

Thanks for the tip. I'm a little OCD so that sounds like something I could really benefit from.

Thank you for this, Mary.
It's just what I need.
I too have lists all over the place, so to speak. Some organization will make a huge difference, I'm sure.

Wonderful :)

You're welcome! Glad I could be of help.

Mary-Elle! For the second time this week you have posted a blog on the very thing I was focused on all day. I was thinking of doing a training on using Trello to expand my content. Great minds really DO think alike! ;)

As a woman who deals with ADHD, prioritizing and organizing don't come naturally to me. I get so many great "squirrel" ideas that could distract me-- unless I can find a way to record them so I can come back to them later but stay on task with what I'm already doing. I've learned to keep a Trello tab open at all times when I'm working. I throw the idea up on a card on the appropriate board and come back to it when I am not already in the middle of a task. I am never lacking for ideas on a slow day. I love my Trello!

Yay! Another Trello person :) I do love it also and the uses for it are just endless.

I used it to organized group research projects and presentations when I was teaching High School. It was amazing! Each group (and the teacher) could see who was recording research, they could assign each other research topics, they could set deadlines-or I could. You can copy/paste files and urls to a card so the others can see it on Trello and link to it. They were given participation grades based on the evidence I saw on Trello. "What's that? You say you helped with research? Let's see here... your name isn't even on the menu for the past three weeks!"

LOL, love it! What a great story :) I haven't even used it in such an extensive way. Great idea to use it with your students.

Hi Kelley, I think it would be fabulous if you created a training for Trello. I know I would appreciate it. I've just signed up. :)

Brian

Thanks Mare-Elle. I will keep this in mind. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, exactly what I was looking for.

Have a great day!

Doug
