Do You Need a Plan B ?

Some Bad News

The news everywhere lately is about the government shutdown in the U.S.

The worse news is the difficulty that so many government workers are having because they're not getting paid.

And since this is all over the news I certainly don't need to talk about that here, nor is this post meant in any way to be political.

Some Positive News

What this post IS meant to be is a shout out to the Wealthy Affiliate program that allows people to get in here, get busy and create some opportunity for themselves. Some opportunity that is not controlled in any way by a job or a boss.

You see, I really do "feel" for the peeps out there that are having difficulty right now because they are experiencing a loss of income. Wouldn't it be great if they had something to fall back on right now...like their own online business?

How About a Plan B ?

You see, that's what Wealthy Affiliate provides for us. They provide the opportunity to create our own Plan B so that we're not 100% dependent on a job if we're still working.

Now, My Own Personal Rant!

So, I know that we all "get" that here, so I'm not going to go on about creating a Plan B any longer. But I do have a personal rant that I must share because it goes along with this subject in a way.

Here goes.....

Around here inside Wealthy Affiliate once in awhile, and in the home based business profession in general alot of the time, I see people complaining in some way because they haven't become big earners in a short time. Like for example....they may say that their blog is only making say $600 per month and they've been working on it for a whole 6 months and they are totally unhappy because they think it's taking too long. Or something like that. You get my point, right?

Here's my rant.....

So what if it takes you a year to make a bit more money than that with your blog.

So what if it takes you 2 years.

So what if it takes you 5 years (and it probably won't) and at the end of 5 years you're making a 6 figure income from a website!

So. What.

Do you know that many of the government workers in the U.S. that are claiming they are destitute now because they have missed 2 paychecks have been working those jobs for decades?

So what if you take some time to build your own business online and wind up making 6 figures after putting in a few years (maybe even 5 or more ) to do it.

Wouldn't that income from a silly little side gig like a blog come in handy if you had just lost your job?

My point here is not to call out anyone who is struggling because of loss of income.

My point IS to call out those people wanting to build their own business who are complaining that working on their own Plan B side gig project for a few years is too long, or complaining that they're not yet making enough money from it so it's just not worth the effort.

My point is that our Plan B's are worth every minute, every hour, every week, month and year that we devote to them because WE are worth it and we never know when we will need a Plan B.

OK, rant over. Thanks for listening :)

You the nailed it on the head. I always believe that you should always have multiple sources of income. And everything of value will take a while to build and become proficient in.

Very inspiring and motivational. Thank you so much indeed of your post.

well said. cheers

I agree I consider this WA experience plan AAA. I am trying to devote every moment I can learning and executing what I have learned.
Thanks Wayne Miller

Great idea. Of course,WA is my Plan A, so that creates a bit of a problem.

Great Post, so true! We should be grateful for what we have. I sure am. WA has been a God sent! Back to work on my site I go. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with you totally, well written.

Here's to success!

Very good post, excellent though, the experts say we all should have a least 3 months living expense saved in case of emergency but everyone seems to be living paycheck to paycheck

Mary-Elle good point and well made.

It can work out in the long run though... My plan B became my plan A back in November!

I agree! I am on the slow boat here since I have a job (in State Government), my husband has a job and we also manage real estate. This is my third job so it is a bit slow to grow. I know it is just a matter of time however and I will be the tortoise who wins the race. My sites are growing and earning more over time and I am continuing to diversify my income. Some people may wonder how I can be an Ambassador here and not earn more...well I keep pushing forward and I am proud to say I make a profit now after paying for WA membership and expenses. If I continue this way I will be quite happy with where I end up.

Thanks for the great thoughts here,
Jessica
