Now you might be wondering WHY you need to know this.

Well for one, you want to know that your efforts are at least producing SOME fruit. Meaning that you will want to know what rankings your posts/pages are getting.

They may not all rank. They may not all rank high. But you will want to know when/if they do.

Since we all don't have access to premium software that can check the rank for you, it is important to know how to do it manually.

Also, I just think it is good to understand process. When I was growing up, my mom wouldn't let us use a calculator until we understood how the calculation worked. This was bad news for my mathly challenged mind but once I got the hang of it, it made things make more sense.

The 'why's about what you're doing are important or you'll feel like you're flogging a dead horse sometimes just because you don't understand.

So while fancy tools are nice, it is also nice to know how to do it manually...

But then again, I don't know how to drive a manual car...so maybe it just depends, lol!
