What is a Tag Question?

As WA affiliates we use tag questions when we write our content especially if we are going to engage our audience.

Using tag questions is the most appropriate way to engage with people when you are trying to get them to see your point of view on products, services, or even in promoting WA.

The definition of a Tag Questions is: Tag questions (or question tags) turn a statement into a question. They are often used for checking information that we think we know is true.

Usually if the main clause is positive, the question tag is negative, and if the main clause is negative, the tag is positive. For example: It's cold (positive), isn't it (negative)?

Want to make a point with someone the best way is to use a tag question having them see that you are only giving them facts.

When is the Best Time To Use Tag Questions

I usually wait until I hit the third heading of my content even though sometimes I will use this to begin a post making people wonder what it is I am getting at.

One of the common functions is to start a conversation or help keep it going. The two basic rules about tag questions are: If the statement is negative, the tag must be positive. If the statement is positive the tag must be negative.

Engagement with people who are reading your posts this keep them more involved in what you have to say and makes them feel important helping them bond with you and trust you.

Trust is what we always want with our audience then they will have the tendency to refer others to our websites and increase our traffic flow.

We add question tags to the end of statements to turn them into questions. They are used in spoken language, especially when we want to check something is true, or invite people to agree with us.

We add a clause in the form of a question at the end of a sentence. Therefore, engaging them making them feel important we want their opinion.

How do you feel when people turn to you for advice and ask your opinion? Makes you feel really good (important enough that someone cares what you think).

The same applies to visitors of our websites as the owners it is up to us to engage and make our readers feel important they matter their opinions also count.

Do You Use Tag Questions?

This was just a short blog post to find out how many of you use tag questions when you are writing your content?

It is an interesting concept and I believe that this can help some of us with learning how to write better content creating opportunities for participation with readers.

Letting readers know that we want them to participate in what we have to say and that the rewards we are offering them with the products, services, or information are what they are looking for.

Please remember to always acknowledge and thank them for coming to your website letting them know they are the ones that do influence the work that we do for them.

In Closing

This was a very short blog post today for everyone to have a little insight into what tag questions are and how they can be used to help everyone with content and engagement of people visiting our websites.

Thanks for reading and if you happen to like my blog post today give me a like.

I would also like to know if you use these in your content as I do? Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I am always trying to learn new ways of keeping people on my website and not click away :)

Thanks and bless you all my wonderful WA family,

Susan

I think I might be missing your point, or am I?

Are you suggesting that we use them in our website/s, or just in posts on WA? This is a legitimate question, isn't?

Chuck

Chuck,
It is a legit question - I use them in my posts as I produce
my content - engaging people with thoughts :)
Have you tired it makes for an interesting conversation
actually with one's self!
Susan

Susan
I asked that "legit" question to let you know that I was being serious. I should have phrased it better.

Site Comments will often suggest asking questions about a website that I/we have reviewed, but I have yet been engaged in that type of conversation. Your post on this is far more engaging from what I have read.

Congrats on becoming an Ambassador.
Chuck

Chuck,
Thank you - and the only reason I am an Ambassador
is thanks to the people of WA and the help I can provide
to them with what I am learning on a daily basis through
this wonderful platform and all the other great members
we have - I love being able to pay it forward in any way :)
Thank you for being a good friend,
Susan

Susan
I do it because I value your help. Not just your help for me, but the help you give to others. I feel that we are truly "friends".

everyone with engaging their audience.
Thanks,

Susan, I think I use tag questions but didn't know they had a name. Thanks for the education.

Fran,
Just a bad habit called trivia - my husband used to tell me how
smart I am - I would always tell him yea right all useless knowledge is what it is LOL
Susan

Susan
It might be useless knowledge to some people, but to others - like myself - it can solve a problem, or at least provide information for future reference.

Chuck

Chuck,
Thank you - never really looked at it that way :)
You are a peach,
Susan

Hi Susan, interesting post and I'll keep it in mind to see if using tag questions will elicit more comments from the audience. Do you find you are getting more comments on your web posts/pages because of using question tags?

It would seem to me regular yes/no questions and informational 'wh- word' questions would do the same thing, right?

Marc,
Thanks, I never thought of that with the little bit of trivia I shared here good point.

Thanks,
Susan

This was great information, Susan:) I didn't know this before, but I can see how it would capture the attention of your audience, and help with the bonding process! Saving this:)
Blessings:)
Suzi

Suzi,
Thank you just trivia that I am always looking around for LOL
