Does Owning your own .com Matter?

Before writing this post I went and did a little research around WA site to see if I could find any information to answer this question.

Found how long until you can rank with your website or how long does it take to get indexed but nothing to really answer this question.

So I decided to place my findings on a blog for everyone to know what I have found out by waiting for three months before purchasing my own domain name.

Playing Things Safe

I am not a person to rush into things and play more to the caution side of everything. When I joined WA as a Premium Member I had been doing training for over 24 hours straight.

I suffer from insomnia so I can go without sleep for three days at times! After 24 hours I knew that this platform was where I could actually learn to make my dream of an online affiliate business work.

But not having enough confidence in myself or my writing abilities I decided to play things safe like I always do (have been burned so many times with scam get-rich-quick sites).

After 3 months all my material was indexed in Google but none of my websites were yet ranked.

So I decided possibly it was time to stop doubting myself and my abilities and took the plunge purchasing my very own dot com (.com).

Surprise - Surprise - Surprise

Now I did not make this decision lightly believe me it was quite the discussion with myself: what are you waiting for everyone keeps saying your doing great - but am I really good enough for Google to recognize me - what if I am just wasting money for a domain and it never ranks?

This went on for probably three days at least then I figure never going to know unless I just do it, so I did on Friday, October 5, 2018, I purchased (2) dot com (.com) domains for myself - Whew that was not an easy task for me!!

One of my daily tasks that I have for myself is to check my Site Health on my Websites making sure that I keep them at 100% with posting and engagement and so on. . .

Image my Surprise when three days later the one siterubix.com site has been ranked by Google WooHoo could not believe it - Pinch Me - now I have not checked to see where this website is ranked - (probably like 9,999,999) but at least I have ranked!!!!

So Does Having your own Domain Help?

For my very own opinion, YES, it helps - would I wait three months once again before purchasing my own domain name for a website - YES!

Now you may ask why? This might sound very silly to most of you but in all honesty in taking my time to work on my websites under the siterubix.com I was able to get my material indexed some in less than 24 hours.

That being said waiting was good because I knew that picking the proper domain for my websites was very important, knowing to have it simple so people could remember it and share it to spread for traffic purposes.

Secondly, building up the content on the website having over 25 posts/pages with good content and keywords proper meta tags makes sense and I changed some of these more than once as I was learning.

At WA we do not just learn from the lessons or training but from other members who give us vital information that if we follow what they are telling us can make a huge difference and affect indexing and ranking.

Here I would like to extend to the WA members and you all know who you are that have become a family to me and I never want to be without you that is how much you mean to me:

P.S. What are your thoughts on this? Does owning your own dot com (.com) make a difference to getting ranked? I know I sure think it does; but without content and proper keywords and following advice and training you will never know!
