I'm trying to use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to track outbound links of my website, and I can't get it working with the resources out there, they seem a little out

I found the answer to this but struggled from an outdated video. Not sure if it would be worth creating a new one for Wealthy Affiliate?

yeah I see what you are trying to achieve. I haven't either yet, but do also eagerly want to set this up with the tag manager. believe you need to set the UTM's manually.

The most recent post about this on WA is from Loes on the 25th of August.

She got her question in her blog answered in the comments and included 3 excellent video tutorials in her blog (edit). Steven

The UTMs are good for tracking links that you place externally yourself. Neil Patel has some good resources on this.

I'm trying to track links on my own site, to other peoples, so I can see how many clicks they've had and where they went.

So it's like asking "Hey Jo, how many clicks did you get from me this month in your analytics?"

I already know the answer :-)

The videos were great thank you, but unfortunately unable to answer the question.

see if this helps

Thanks for the link. I do have Goals set up already but this is a great video.

Google tag manager and analytics combined allows you to know what links were clicked on your page, rather than just what page they left from, so you knew where they went.

So if you advertise someones blog, you know if your own site sent them 1 click, or 300.

Hi Carson, my website is not built in Wordpress, I have a preferred platform to develop with and as it's a CMS, must remain hosted with that company. Can I link the site to WA

Off course, why would you not be able? No matter if you use Drupal, PHP, Joomla or any other CMS, it is just a different way to do it, nothing else changes.

Hope this helps.
Stefan, ToLiNoLi

Sorry I didn't see your reply sooner. Yes that's great thanks, I thought it needed to be "connected" somehow so that WA notified me of indexing etc.

I'll manage through the Google console anyway so shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Many thanks!

You are welcome! :0)
