11 Things I Learned About Becoming an Expert in 2018 via Wealthy Affiliate

Kyle did a webinar on this towards the end of 2017 and part of the Super Affiliate trainee tasks this month is to watch it.

I had already seen it but was amazed at how much more I learned watching it a second time.

Here are 11 things I learned the second time around:

• You must think you’re a brand before you are
  

• Don’t be afraid of competition. When there’s competition you know there's a ready audience. You just need to tap into that with your brand.
  

• Understand your customers – who they are, what they need. Be active in your niche – consuming information so you know what’s current and what people’s needs are. Be involved in communities offline - Meetup or online – forums, social media, Quora etc.
  

• Relevancy and Quality must be your priority when it comes to content.
  

• Keep a diary – write anything in it that's important about your niche otherwise you’ll forget.

• Product reviews – they are important. This is what people look for online. They are looking for authority recommendations. Research products well before you write a review – demonstrate that you’re an authority to be trusted.

• More than ever companies are now seeking out authorities online to help them market their products or services so there will be a lot more opportunities to become an authority affiliate. Your website must demonstrate clearly that you are an authority. This takes time and work, but it does not have to take eons. Also remember you are always more of an expert to someone you are one step ahead of.

• Qualities of an expert – Demonstrate that you can help others and get feedback that you’re being successful. This might mean taking risks, even being wrong but you’ll learn as you go, and you’ll only become an expert if you learn any which way. You can be an expert in the way you help people, in your approach and attitude. You must jump in - making mistakes is part of becoming an expert.
  

• Expose yourself to magazines, books and websites in your niche – look at topics, ads, headlines etc – observe and learn!!

• You need to own it to become it – You must have a vision. You can become an expert in 2 years if you work at it. Remember you are working on your own legacy and continually marketing yourself in what you do and how you do it. You must have patience and commit to the goal long term.

• It’s easy to opt out. It’s always more difficult to stick with that which is uncomfortable. There are constantly hurdles in business. Don’t expect it to be plain sailing all the time. Then when the obstacles show up, as they will, embrace them and deal with them as part of the process towards becoming an expert in your field.
