The Coming New Year.

If it seems a bit early to think about resolutions, think again. We're almost a third of the way into December (at the time of this writing) and the holidays will fly by pretty quickly. To be honest, I don't usually make new year's resolutions. In order for me to even consider it, they have to be significant. Otherwise, I can start and stop most things on just about any other day of the year.

I've already made a huge "resolution" by deciding to give WA all I've got this coming year and flipping my internal resistance on its head. But I'm not waiting for New Year's Day to kick it into gear. I've been spending more time on my sites for a few weeks already and intend to keep at it. So for me, the actual significance of January 1st is that it marks the beginning of the year in which I expect to see the best results so far, for my efforts.

Since I write for a living, I've had to come up with creative ways to write faster and work smarter. Believe me, it's more fun to work on my own sites than it is to write content for someone else. It's been challenging, because I spend my entire day researching and writing, whether for myself or my clients. But it seems to be working out better now, so I must be doing something right and I intend to seek even more ways to increase my productivity.

So if any of you are considering making some resolutions for the coming year, I strongly recommend getting them under way as soon as possible. At least get your feet wet and give yourself a chance or two to fail, before the big day gets here. You might find it easier to stick to your toughest commitments if you've already had a couple dry runs. Otherwise, you might find yourself among the millions who give up the fight after the first week goes by.

Best wishes,

Mark

Yep, any resolutions I make will be all about WA, since that seems to be where most of my focus is going at present. WA is not a fight I will give up, as I intend to hang in there. That's a kind of resolution in itself, I'd guess.

Good luck on your own resolutions.

Thanks, Fran. Yes, I can certainly relate to that. Good luck with your resolutions!

I don't want to offend you but I don't make resolutions I look at it as setting achievable goals instead. That way I have to strive to keep those goals and that way I can achieve them.

I'm not that easily offended. Whatever works for you. The way I see it, to resolve to do something is to commit to it. By definition, a resolution is supposed to be a firm decision. I think modern society has diminished their importance by not keeping them, which might explain why they're viewed with such cynicism.

Anyhow, I see no point in even calling something a resolution if it's only a loose commitment. Interestingly, my friends tell me I take things too seriously. But from my standpoint, they don't take anything seriously enough. That would include their resolutions, lol.

I agree with you 100% that is why I call it goals instead of resolutions because we have a tendency to keep goals and not resolutions.

This way you won't feel guilty about not keeping the resolution and you keep the goal.

This has been on my mind too. 2019 is literally a few weeks away. I will definitely have to gather my pen and paper to draw up my plans for 2019. Thank you for inspiring an urgency in me to set my goals for 2019. All of the best to you for 2019 as well!

Yes, definitely. Time really flies toward the end of the year. Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a fantastic 2019!
