A YouTube Noob
Hey everybody,
Firstly, it's been a long while since I last posted a blog in here....too long actually :-) but I'll be getting more involved from her on in.
Secondly, to all those who have "followed" me over the last couple of years that have not had an acknowledgement from me or been followed back by me, apologies. I do appreciate all of you who have taken the trouble to follow me and have had nothing in return....that'll change from now on!
Thirdly, and what has inspired me to write his. Well, I had an email notification from WA (as you do) regarding a post from Lauren Kinghorn and her YT adventures.......

Coincidentally I have just started to dip my toe into the wonderful world of youtube and Lauren's post came at an opportune moment. I had previously had an inclination to get involved in YT but, being technically challenged, the thought of trying to figure out the intricacies of video creating/editing software filled me with dread. The upshot being that I had never really got around to it.
However that all changed recently when I was introduced to a simple video creator that worked without you having to appear on screen or have your voice on there either.
I watched a couple of explainer videos as to how this all worked and I thought I could do that. Anyway, I took the plunge and bought lifetime access to their deal and found myself at the console of this software.
I took a couple of my blog posts as the basis of two of the videos I've done as a beginner and have been pleased with the outcome. They're both centred around WA and now at last I can say I have a presence on the internet as a video publisher...crazy!

Meanwhile, for anybody who's holding back on video and youtube.....don't!

ps.....the image above is the actual cover art of my YT channel, I've even learned how to create thumbnails as well. If I can do this then anyone can.

Please don't leave it too long to get involved with making and posting videos onto YT and other hosting channels.
If you consider that Google owns YT and that they often place YT videos in their search results page ABOVE the regular top listings then you can see the power of vids on YT.
t's often much quicker to rank a video than a post or page as well so that means you could get your message out there quicker than previously.

Super cool, Mark. So glad my little post inspired you to write this post. That video creator sounds great, I'm keen to check it out.
I know what you mean about not being technical. At this stage I dont edit my videos at all... which means I other upload them to YouTube raw, with bloopers, or do a good few takes before I'm happy to upload. Guess I'll have to cave sometime and learn some basic video editing but it feels a bit beyond me at this stage.
Good on you for being prepared to put yourself out there Lauren regardless them being "perfect" or not and thanks for giving me that little nudge!!
I'm trying to make sure I get my titles, descriptions and tags all sorted now...that triumvirate appears to be of great importance when it comes to actually ranking your video.

I want to correctly name my channel before I post it because at the moment it's got a long, raw link which looks horrible.
I expect it's pretty simple to do but I haven't clocked it yet. When I do, and I'm going to sort it pretty soon, I'll happily post it here and I'm definitely up for a subscribe swap...you'll probably be my very first one!

Hi Dave,
Quick update.....I checked out how to get a branded url for my YT channel and even though it looks straight forward it seems that a complication is whether or not the channel is a personal one or a branded one and I haven't figured out how to switch between the two yet.
So, I've dropped the long, raw, horrible link in my bio until I can figure how I change it without too many complications.

Hi Mark... I was interested in reading about your YT experience b/c I haven't yet taken the plunge yet. Once I switch themes and tidy things up a bit, that's on my list of things to implement.
