The Flash Drive Doesn't Work

About a month ago I wrote a post about buying a big flash drive Technology's 18 Months Rule and I promised to write about my experience after it arrived and I tested it out.

It's the cutest little thing, the smallest flash drive I've ever seen.

It arrived on time but I've had to request a refund. I copied several files over to the drive. Some of them were too big (over 8GB) and they didn't get copied. Others looked like they were copied to the drive but showed up as empty folders when I tried to access the files.

Sometimes the entire flash drive appears to be empty but ejecting it and plugging it in again makes some of the files show up. Other files are simply not there. I add them back and they disappear again.

Sad to say I'm disappointed.

In the meantime I've found a workaround for the reason I bought the big flash drive in the first place so I don't actually need it now.

I don't think there's a problem with the company I bought the flash drive from, just the flash drive itself. I also bought a 4-port USB hub for my laptop and it's great. I've ordered more stuff during the last few days and I'm waiting for them to be shipped.

Stay tuned and I'll let you know how the new stuff pans out.

I hope you get refunded also, Marion. Very disappointing for you.

I hope you get your refund ok Marion and that was a real shame. I hope you have more luck with your other stuff. xx

I'm having problems with the same type of disk

I use these thume drives on a regular basis Kingston seems to be the best

Hi Marion,

I have had similar problems with terabyte flash drives, and I have heard similar complaints from others purchasing large storage flash drives. Apparently "you gets what you pays for" still holds true!

I have found a much better solution (perhaps a little bit more expensive, but definitely reliable!)
I purchased a 2 TB portable hard drive which works very well indeed , it's very small and Virtually the size of a pack of cards.

Size still matters in the techie world!

Yes, size does matter :) A few days before I bought the flash drive I bought a Seagate 3TB external hard drive, not the little baby one but the full size that needs a power supply. I bought the flash drive so I could put it on my keychain and take it with me when I go out. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Sounds like the flash drive may have been defective, nothing worse Marion, keep us up to date.

Yeah, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is :(

Send it back!!!! Refunds are a wonderful thing!!!!!

I've asked for a refund which should take 3 to 5 business days. They didn't ask me to return the item yet.

Thanks for the update and Thank You for the image and exposing this scam. I knew something was amiss when you told me the price.

Yeah, it's the manufacturer that's pulling this scam not the retailer. Getting a refund looks to be easy, I'll know for sure within a week.

What a mess, sounds like it was defective.

Maybe the flash drives are all defective. They got some bad reviews on Amazon.

They should take them off the market or it may give the company a bad reputation.

Maybe was a scam company I mean they do make 1TB flash drives but there quite expensive . Sorry to hear about this hope you get your refund :-).

I'm not really worried too much about the refund, it was very cheap. It's more the disappointment that it didn't work properly.

2TB on that size I think is quite unlikely..

It's quite possible, technology has advanced that far, but the price for the top quality flash drives is prohibitive.
