First of all I want to say that I'm following the system here at WA which is to create a lot of quality content posts that are helpful and engaging. I do this by targeting keyw

Marcus, you're doing everything perfect. It will take time to outrank those posts and with time you can do it. I'd also take a look at the posts and see what kind of content they offer. Most likely they're ranking because of the age of their site. And although if there's an authoritative site at the top, check out the other sites, are they just blogs?

I got caught up obsessing about my rank for some posts. It was a waste of time when my focus should be on quality content for my niche audience. Keep building and you'll get there. I'll give you a quick example, I paid a fiverr writer to write what it was like to write for Fiverr. 1000 words, I did the SEO and edit. Couldn't get it to ranks for a month and gave up on it, moved on and kept writing. Then I noticed the post was getting over 500 visits per month from Google. Checked it out and it was in position 5.

Hope this helps, but I think you're doing great and have the system down.
Todd

Thanks for the answer Todd. I know that I care too much about rankings right now and I just need to take that away and keep pumping out good content.

These sites have been around for like 5-6 years so their content is "old" and there is no comments and so on so should be able to outrank them in the future.

Probably after I have posted a post with comments and shared it on Google+ I should just drop it and go for the next one right. There isn't much else you can do to increase your potential rankings right?

Marcus

Hey Marcus, you can also post it into other G Plus groups that are based on your niche. If you're not into many, start. I'm a member of 20 or so G Plus and FB groups and by posting on these I'm increasing my visitors and to some degree some helpful backlinks.

One trick on G Plus (learned here by Jays Webinars) is to post on a G Plus group, then link that and post that link to other G Plus groups.

But after I get 5 or so comments and have socially shared, I let it go and focus on the next post. Then say in a couple of weeks when I'm checking my rankings with Jaaxy, I'll re-share the post vial social networks again.

For some posts that I can't rank to page one right away, but are hanging in page 2 or 3, I'll get more comments on them here with WA's platform. I just buy them and space them out over 2 weeks and answer them right away.

But that's about it, just get back to focusing on helpful content and you'll do great.

Todd

Thanks a lot for your help Todd. I will get involved in more social groups in my niche for sure.

The reason you can rank on page one directly within weeks is because you've had your site for quite some time right? That Google trusts you.

I'm giving it a year with full commitment and will see where I'm at after that :).

Thanks again for your help, really appreciate it.

Marcus

You bet Marcus, happy to help. That's a big part of it. I noticed after I had about 30 posts that I started ranking more consistently and more quickly. As you continue, this gets quicker and easier. If you're going for a year, I'd consider the yearly. that's what I do and WA costs me < $30/mo. I do this with Jaaxy too and it costs me $15/mo. If you're not using Jaaxy by this stage you may want to look into it.

As soon as I started using Jaaxy, I started choosing better keyword phrases for each post I wrote and that made a big difference.

I will be going yearly as soon as I get a job. I just finished my computer science degree so a little bit "poor" at the moment hehe. I will go yearly on jaaxy as well. Realized how good it is with my 30 free searches.

I just need to keep my publicizing frequency at 100% and sooner or later I also think that I will see rankings. And then I will get to know my niche better of what type of keywords you rank easier for.

Thanks for all the help Todd!

Absolutely, focus on quality content to help your niche out you'll do great. Let me know if you ever have any questions. Thanks, Todd

Yes you should still rank in a years time, but content is the key. Keep going with your quality content adding, and your ranking will improve over time as more trust also develops on your site!

Thanks for the answer. So you do get an advantage over other site's because they haven't optimized their post for the long tail keyword? That's why the true competition is "how to transfer ira to gold" right? With the quotes.

I will continue to create quality content and I have told myself that I will give it a year. We'll see where I'm at after a year :)
