Turquoise Hexagon Sun

Titles are important. Titles grab people's attention. For example, you saw the title "Turquoise Hexagon Sun" and probably thought, "Ooh, what's this we have here? How can this possibly be anything to do with websites or internet marketing?" So you clicked to find out.

But I have taken this bizarre title and somehow shoe-horned it into being relevant by using it as an excuse to talk about the importance of titles. Yes, I am clever, I know. But it's okay, I'm happy to wait until I'm retired before I collect my award.

I remembered there is this Scottish musical due called Boards of Canada, which if you ask me is a bit confusing. That's like an Australian band calling themselves The Californian Nose Flute Band or something. Or it's like having a pair of shoes which won an award for this year's best pair of jeans.

Just agree with me, it's easier and saves time.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, so Boards of Canada often give strange titles to their pieces of music. Here is Turquoise Hexagon Sun. If you ask me, the music doesn't quite live up to the title. Not only that, I was disappointed that there were no turquoise hexagons in the video at all. Maybe I should write in to complain. I would just write a comment on YouTube, but in my experience if you comment on YouTube it's only a matter of time before someone swears at you.

Then there is the other awsome title I like: Everything You Do is a Balloon. Yes, there are people riding bikes while wearing strange masks, but there are no balloons!

It's like clicking on a news item called "Donald Trump Has an Operation to Turn Him Into a Donkey", only to discover it's actually a cartoon about a badger called Simon.

Yesterday I opened up a news article where the intro said James Hewitt admits he's Price Harry's dad, only to find a video where he says he's NOT Prince Harry's dad. That's not news! That's part of my life wasted that I'll never get back.

As some kind of nonsensical revenge on the universe, I'm now off to write a blog post on my Earn Money with Marcus website titled "How to Fix Your Broken Hovercraft", but the content will actually be a review of the best digital cameras under $500. Hahaa, have some of that!

P.S. No I'm not on drugs. I just get silly sometimes.

Gteat post buddy!
Ed

Thank you Edward.

ROFL!

I was half expecting something about Jimbo's Technicolour DreamPants.

DreamTrousers, not DreamPants. He may indeed have Technicolour DreamPants too, but I have not removed his DreamTrousers to find out. I fear it would be overstepping some kind of line.

Yes, I clicked because of the headline. I don't normally bother but seeing as it was in WA, You got me! When I saw it I thought how really strange, what on earth is this about!

I agree with you that there are so many misleading headlines out there with superficial content. So I feel your disappointment in having wasted time. However your post got me laughing, I enjoyed it so it doesn't fall in that category.

Thanks for the laugh! :)

:-)

Hi Marcus, enjoyed the post. Irv.

Thanks Irvaltine.

Yes, you are a smart ass

Thanks Loes. That made me laugh out loud big time. I almost fell off my chair.

👍

I wasn't sitting on a chair when I clicked it, I made sure I was standing on a bouncy castle which cushioned my inevitable fall.

I would try that, Marcus:)

You're just a glutton for Clickbait, aren't you? DOn't worry - we all do it. Coming up with great titles is a combination artform and science. I'm not sure where the art ends and the science begins, but it seems to me, there are definitely some seriously qualified artistic scientists out there stealing our precious time online.

You get better at spotting them in time.

Apparently, the most successful websites actually split test titles to see which are the most effective at attracting clicks. That's why you will notice with sites like cracked.com the actual title is often a bit different to the words in the URL. They are always tweaking their titles.

The title got me! and I love all the blog. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome!

Yes, the title grabbed me.

:-)

sounds like you been up in the sky with lucy looking for diamonds

:-)

Now that was a protoplasmic perpetuation.

I'm sure that means something, I'm just not quite sure what, even after looking up the definitions of those words.
