Stay Focused, Stay On Track, Stay Disciplined

Alright, I'm in the mood for a rant this morning. There's something I need to get off my chest.

I've said before about how being disciplined is one of the most important things determining your success. Well, a while back, there was a member here who I was giving help to. They had been here about a year, but were still really struggling to get anywhere. Then I found out a key reason why:

They'd not even completed the training!

Seriously!

They had been here ages and they'd only got to about phase 2 or something. So, my reaction was along the lines of: "What the hell are you playing at?!"

This person's problem was that they were always too easily distracted. They were very spontaneous and full of ideas. Ideas are great, but if you never properly follow through with any of them because you're always distracted by the next idea, it's never going to happen is it?

You need to focus and stay on track.

Don't try to reinvent the wheel. Get the basics down first. Do the training here at WA, and THEN you can look at other possibilities.

Consistently writing content is a key part of this. The training here at WA really emphasises that. But this particular member had only written 30-something blog posts by that point.

Seriously? Come on! Even if you only wrote 2 posts a week, you'd be looking at over 100 posts after a year.

And this person was apparently working on this FULL TIME! Come on, full time? If you're full-time you can write a new post every weekday, which would mean 260 posts in a year. If you were employed in a job writing content for websites, you would be expected to do more than that each day. And if you are running your own business, you need to be disciplined and work at it as a job.

I've been here 2 years and 3 months. My main website has 274 posts on it, and I'm not even working on this full-time, I have other part-time work too. And I've also dabbled with other websites along the way.

So, just to emphasise once again, do the training all the way through, and write lots of great content on your website. And if you run out of ideas for things to write about, see this: Stuck For Content Ideas? Use Other People's Videos as Starting Points.

And if you're struggling to rank, this may help: Quick SEO Tip - Be the First to Write About Something.

Okay, you have no excuses now. You're here to succeed, and success requires work, consistency, and focus. There's really no way round that...

Wow, I guess that it was a reason why the person who you tried to help never met with any success - Not even having started the training.

Sorry that you invested so much of your time on this individual who by all indications did not treat his/her opportunity here at WA with any level of seriousness.

Having an online business here at WA is almost like a metaphor about life. What a person puts into it through effort and work will result in what comes out on the other side - positive or (not willing to roll up one's sleeves) not much success at all.

Great thoughts that you shared here, Marcus!

:-)

Exactly, stop kidding yourself!

:-)

Great rant and encouragement Marcus.

:-)

A good post Marcus. I agree you must be well versed in the concepts before venturing forth with opinions!

:-)

Hi Marcus,

You're completely right. I have to write more and more!!!
Have to finish the training. Have to be consistent and to be focused.

This post is about me folks. Don't get distracted, listen to people who know better, who are more experienced and have more knowledge about internet marketing.

Thanks for your help and for those advice you gave me. It is a real an eye opener ( and I really mean it!).

All the best

Just to be clear to everyone, the person I was referring to in my post was not actually Nenad.

thanks for sharing

Very true. If you don't commit and out in sufficient effort, you won't get results. Like everything in life.
Xin

Definitely

Thanks Marus, a great post, so true, stay focused and work on it.

:-)

Ha ha good rant! There was a member on here who was thinking of giving up coz he wasn't getting any sales after 5 months. He had published 5 posts. I just don't get it.

1 post a month??? Some people just don't get it...

Thanks Marcus for another great post. I enjoyed your 'rant', as you called it! All seems like great advice to me :)

Thanks Valerie :-)
