How to Help People Succeed with WA Without Even Joining

Following on from Please Don't Say WA's Free, It's Not, I just wanted to take a moment to look at things from a different angle.

While I still think that we should not view WA as free, and that the starter membership is really a frial trial, there is actually a way we can give people great value from WA for free. So I would like to modify my previous option a bit by saying there is a way you can help somebody succeed for free via WA, as long as you are able to point them in the right direction.

That's the key thing. Someone is unlikely to succeed on their own just by signing up to the free starter membership. But if you can point them to the best free training videos here, they could succeed.

Free training videos? Really???

Yes.

There are loads of member-created training videos at WA, and the default is that these are set to be available for free members. Not only that, if you give the URL to people (using your affiliate link of course, just in case) they can even watch them without signing up to WA at all!

Seriously!

To see what I mean, open a Chrome incognito window and visit the URL of a training video. You will see that it can be watched for free, it just has a bar at the bottom encouraging you to join WA. But you can tell people to just ignore that if they are not interested in joiniing WA.

What does this mean?

It means that you can provide great value for free to your website visitors by linking to lots of WA training videos for them to watch without even joining WA. For example, you could:

  • Use individual training videos as starting points for your own blog posts.
  • Have one big resources page containing links to all the most useful training videos.
  • Use them in a sequence as part of an email autoresponder series.

By doing this, you are giving your readers access to genuinely helpful training for free. It's a very soft sell approach that could work well. People who don't want to join WA but are just looking for some free training, that's fine, you've helped them and they will be glad you did. But if anyone does happen to want to join WA, that's the perfect opportunity for them to join via your affiliate link.

But the great thing is, you're not being pushy. You're leaving it up to them. People like to feel like they have control to decide for themselves what they want to do.

Do you see the power of this?

You could actually design your own awesome free training course around this!

Whether it's via an email autoresponder series, via one big resources page on your website, or via individual blog posts, it doesn't really matter. Use whatever way suits you best.

The important thing is, people can watch the training videos for free, and if you point people in the direction of the best ones, that could be really helpful.

Those who just want the free information, they get what they want. For those who want something more, that's available too. Everybodys happy.

This is great Marcus. I went incognito and noticed the videos you can watch are the ones which aren't premium. Did you find this as well?

I am curious as I have heard quite a few people doing this, but was is the purpose of going incognito? When u are just on a regular webpage surfing around, your WA affiliation does not show does it?

carl

I would say by going incognito, it saves the trouble of having to sign out.

On the other hand going incognito is a way to search your post titles to see where they are at. Doing them in your regular browser brings them up because you are already working in the browser.

Hopefully, that answers your question, but if anybody wants to chime in, please feel free.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I think I understand now. :)

carl

jetaranda, yes, that's right.

Hi Marcus, you offer hope to budding new commers at WA. Irv.

Thanks Irvy

Yes, this is powerful stuff. I have a question though,

If they've already come in through your affiliate link the first time, doesn't this work out to you getting credit even if the customer watches a video that doesn't have the affiliate link, and then decides to join? From what I understand, the person who owns the video doesn't get the credit because your cookie is the one that's on their computer. It seems at one point early on in the OEP, or even before, this rolled out. I'm not sure if it still is en force now. If someone became a referral through me, they would have followed one of my affiliate links. I also remember that at one time, you did have to plug the suffix onto the end of the link every time, but this seems to have been a very long time ago.

The reason I ask this is, doesn't Google frown on a whole bunch of pages on one's website if they have videos with affiliate links on them, let alone a page full of them (as an index?)

As it stands now, I have only one affiliate link on my entire website. All (or most) of my pages are internally-linked to this one page.

What are your thoughts?

I don't know for sure about the cookie thing, but you are probably right.

Probably the best way to do this is via an email autoresponder series, which is what I am planning now.

I would like to do it as an email campaign but I don't have the extra money to have an autoresponder. I did get MailChimp and have broadcast credits, which I purchased some time ago, but now they don't allow affiliate links. They probably didn't when I purchased these but had not researched this beforehand.

This would be the work-around on having too many affiliate links on my website. I do want to keep that way down.

One more question...

Which outfit are you going to use? Now I used to have Aweber. My current budget either supports having that or Jaaxy. I will take that as precedence if need be as I would just use RapidWriter on WA. Someone is now temporarily letting me use their Jaaxy account but I don't want to do this for very long. I would use it a couple times need be, and then thank the member for having let me use it.

It's a shame about MailChimp. I've not been around autoresponders now for almost three years and need to know any updates or alternatives.

Sorry about all the questions, but an email campaign is something I always wanted to have and now you have provided a good reason to have one, over and above just writing email broadcasts. Your idea would provide more of a variety and I like it.

Thanks again!

I use Aweber. I already have an email series that does this over 8 lessons, but I want to expand it to much longer, a complete training course via email.

Thanks Macus for the great advice. As for the one single resource page for those free training. I may share with outsider, I would rather create a blog post inside WA and have all the links there.

Because, if we do it on our custom webpage there will be a lot of affiliate links, which Google hates.
This way I can insert only one single link I created on WA and that will be without any affiliate link since it is my own creation.

Cheers,
Kipps

Good point. Thanks for commenting.

Welcome Macus. You make me proud of myself :)

That's awesome to be proud of yourself! You go Kipps! Keep making yourself proud! Too much BS in this world trying to take that right away from us. ....good on you! I'm proud of you too! You rock! I love a healthy self image!

Thanks Lori for your encouragement. I feel inspired.
Cheers,
Kipps

Thanks very much for this info. I did not know that the member created blogs and training were available on the web. very cool! I can see now how this could benefit you, particularly if you go the route of what u suggest above about training for non WA members. I think it is a great concept for people. Again thanks for sharing and I wish u success in all your endeavours sir. :)

carl

:-)

Yes Marcus is excellent you "Don´t say WA is Free" I´m agree with you.
Claudio

Thanks Claudio.

That's what makes WA the greatest!

:-)

NOW you got it, my friend!

Mickeyb

Thanks Mickey.

Not being pushy is a smart and functional way in affiliate marketing and it works perfectly, just it takes some time to see results. I use this method in my way when promoting my GPS devices. Great and valuable advice Marcus. Thanks

:-)

Great point, Marcus.

I heard about being able to share other people's training while using your own link. I'm not sure if I'm over thinking this, but how would you do that?

All you need to do is click where it says "Affiliate" at the top right, then copy the affiliate link. Then you can use that wherever you want to link to it.

Ahhh...I've been looking at that link icon for a few days now, wondering how to use it. Thanks!

It's easy when you know how :-)

I didn't know free members can watch videos by members. Was thinking you can't. Thank you for great info Marcus.

So, that brings me... you were saying click "Affiliate" at the top right. Do you mean airplane icon?

Thanks,
Taka

Hi Taka, Marcus is talking about the affiliate link on top of each post. When you click it, it comes up with your affiliate link inserted. You can share it on FB, in emails etc.
Here is the screenshot.
I hope it helps!
Best regards, Anke

Ah ok. Thank you Anke,

Now I see it. I remember I answered your question on this before. But I didn't know non-members can watch videos created by Premium members.

Thanks for that information. My goodness, WA has so many goodies!

AHohaia is correct.

Yes, when a premium member creates training, the default is for it to be available for free members. But they can be watched even without joining WA at all, they just get a bar at the bottom encouraging them to join.

But just to clarify, you cannot do this with Kyle's Affiliate Bootcamp training or Lessons 11 onwards of the Certification course. Only Premium WA members can access those.

But for training created by WA members, the vast majority will have the defaul setting of being availabe for free members.

Perfect! Thank you for clearing it up.
