Increase your network by 2 times in 2 weeks
It is an incredible 2 weeks as I increase my network from 200 to 400 within 2 weeks.
I have about 200 for past 6 months and in less than 2 weeks it doubled. Want to know secret?
Welcome new members
Always welcome new members as they are most likely to need help.
By welcoming and helping them, your network will increase and you create a happy learning environment for someone new.
Comment on their blogs
The more you provide comments especially useful and positive ones, chances are you will get likes and following. This will increase the network.
Be proactive
Start following people. One good source is to follow people that has commented on the blogs. They are active and most welcome people following them. There is also a good chance they will follow back.
Extra Work
Once you have reach your target on the numbers of people in your network, be prepared to work even harder. My emails also increased more than 2 times or doubled.
You need to paced yourself to ensure you are not burdened by the sudden increase in your network.
Do it at your own pace and enjoy the process
What can you gain
You will be able to see different views and different ideas by different people. This will definitely help you in the journey in WA.
You can try new ideas on your website or discuss about a new idea you have.
Overall it is great to have many people in your network however it has to be manageable.

This is true but I find, as I get more followers and follow more people, I spend more time answering questions and commenting on posts like this than actually doing my website. I'm going back to my 'real' work next week so I am really sad that I won't have as much time to comment, help and be involved with my network of WA friends

Recommended not to spend more than 60 mins in engaging your network.

Pick up all the members you've missed. They will bring more followers by their numbers.
Sadly, I'm way over followed, so slowly I'm picking up those , that I've missed.

Mostly I love to network with others in similar niches. It is great when we can help each other with guest blogs and the like. I am in the herbal medicine niche so mostly I follow other members who have a medical background or those with an interest in or experience with other forms of natural medicine. There are of course members whom I just seem to resonate with too :)
I like to welcome new members too but I don't always follow them, especially if they are not yet premium members. Like some others have said, no sense in having a large following if most of them are not active within the community.
