Well.... in the UK the longest word is the name (in Welsh) of a small village and railway station in Wales. Here it is: llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

I never got back to you on the correct answer to my question. The longest word in the dictionary is "smiles." It has an s on either end and a mile in between.
Here's another one to ponder. What state is round on the outside and high in the middle?
