trying to ad a banner ad by using the hyperlink function, but it comes out as text, not the image.
If you were adding it into a word press post or page, you need to add it in your text editor section not the visual editor where you write your blogs. If you’re putting into a widget, you can just drag a text widget to your side bar or footer and paste the code into the woods.

How to insert product banner ad?
trying to ad a banner ad by using the hyperlink function, but it comes out as text, not the image.
Normally banner ads is in the form of HTML and not ordinary text. So in order for it to be displayed correctly, you need to place the HTML (the code) into HTML editor - in wordpress editor, you will find ;Visual' and 'text' option which you can toggle. Use the 'text' tab to insert this code and not the 'visual' tab.

My wife joined before I began the Affiliate Bootcamp. Can I still add her as a referral?
Apparently, she got busy, the 7 days passed and she did not join for the $19. So, I will guess that she is still available whenever she decides to continue.
I think the answer was given but, this was a great question. Also how do you know you did not get credit? Is your wife profile not listed under your "My referrals" tab?
It's like Robert says, she has to sign up through your affiliate link for you to get credit

I said what I did about using another IP address because WA tracks them and if they are the same there's a good chance the referral will be discounted.
The best thing to do is sign up using a friends Device or within a cafe or library.

It pays to sign up with a different IP address though.
Does she have her own PC/Laptop with her own account?
If not she could use a friends or an internet cafe or library.
After she's signed up you can both use the same device.
