I am not a Google fan. You can see my previous articles that talk about how Google owns or try to own the internet while manipulating search results to it's own gain and which resulted a $9 billion penalty from the European Commission.

You can find those blog posts on my profile page, here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co...

While Google is being investigated for several other foul play, there is a new search engine, called Million Short out there, being more and more popular, growing steadily that made the news with people speculating that might this new algorithm become Google's most feared enemy.

"Over the past year, an increasing number of headlines have called out global media and tech giants like Facebook and Google for using biased algorithms, promoting false news stories and being manipulated by corporate interests –there is greater skepticism surrounding these longtime source, with individuals becoming eager to assert more control over their online experiences." - MSN

The Canadian company came up with the concept that this new search engine you can choose - by easy settings clicks on the left of the page - clear out the mess that Google gives you on search result pages that are pushing websites that one way or another benefit the Giant - paid or sponsored listing, website with Adsense or other Google related products, etc. - and offer you real results.

What the goal is - and it's broadly supported - to help people find things they can't otherwise, because they would have to flip through dozens of pages in Google's results, while with Million Short, the website or content you are looking for might just show up on the first page which benefits both the one that is looking for the information and the one who wrote an article, managed that blog, but didn't have the time, skill or money to pump up SEO.

"Search is too important of a function to be controlled by a handful of companies, and I don’t believe the science and art behind searching has been perfected. There is still a lot of room for innovation in the search space – new algorithms, user interfaces, new sorting filters and much more. A tremendous opportunity exists." - Sanjay Arora, founder and CEO of Million Short

The company was founded in 2012 and until recently it wasn't widely known but because people both those that use the search and those that want to be found started to be really fed up with Google's unfair and greedy game play, the new search engine came out of the shadow, getting the attention of the main stream media.

Would i stop using Google? Nope, but as I have been using and promoting Bing, I certainly will support and use Million Short.

Thanks Andy! I will definitely have a look.

Thanks for the information, I have never heard of Million Short.

It was founded in 2012 but only last year started to get the main stream media's attention.

A new weapon in the SEO wars arsenal. Thanks for informing us Marcus!

Gotta have a healthy competition. :)

very intresting. Well be interesting to follow and see what happens to it.

Thanks for sharing

Yes it took 5 years to get this far so I'm sure it will need some more time but catching the main stream media's attention definitely helps.

Great Story!

Thank you. I think it's pretty amazing the way you can exclude the big guns - Amazon, Facebook, Youtube, etc - to see what others have on the web.

Very interesting and good to know! Thanks. I will check it out.

I specially like the catchy line in the search field: "What haven't you found?" lol

I saw that. Did you also have problems typing in a search term? I had to type very slowly or it would cut off what I was typing and try to guess what I wanted. That was annoying.

The new post I wrote for my site was #5 on there though and in Google it is currently #50! Bing and Yahoo are in between. That is interesting!

Yes it seems a bit laggy on Chrome, then I tried Edge and no lag. Makes me wonder if Chrome - owned and developed by Google - does something that affects it. However Million Short is still Beta so i am sure that they have a lot to improve on such, still.

Thanks. I was in Chrome.

Yes I think for now the best way to use Million Short is what it was made for in the first place. As a backup, in case you can't find something with Google or just to check where your own website is listed, to compare and eventually it will be improved more and who knows maybe become a really useful SE for everything else.
