It Ranked in 21 Minutes

Last Update: May 16, 2017

Hi Folks,

Thought I would share this cool accomplishment with you.

Today I wrote a review on my site and within a few minutes of posting, the review was indexed and ranked in Google.

Within 21 Minutes!

I know what you are thinking…

"Jay! How did you do that? What is your secret?"

There is no secret.

I simply follow a set of On-Page SEO metrics which include:

  • Meta Title
  • Meta Description
  • Keyword in Content
  • Alt tag within an image
  • Internal links
  • External links
  • Video Embedded

So, when you create your next post - follow those 7 On-Page SEO metrics and you’ll do just fine. :)

SiteContent isn't working correctly (I heard) and stated I had several articles published and most of them were not indexed. My site had been indexed. I was confused. I then came across your video.
I wanted to let you now that I tried your tips. It wasn't easy at first.

First, I have a fairly new site, so I don't have the option for internal links.

Second, though I have a featured image and like it, it shows up at the top of my posts and that I don't like. So, while I wait for the theme developer to get back to me, I am trying to decide whether to keep the featured image or not. I really hate the way it looks, but wonder if I do more harm taking it out vs looking stupid. I haven't found anywhere in the options to change settings on the featured image.

Third, I don't really use G+, but I did post my article.

Fourth, I had Yoast search console and thought that the same as the (Google) Search console you mentioned. (newbie) Once I got that figured out, I had to make sure everything was set up. There were several steps to getting that done. I had to verify all the different versions of my site. That included verifying my site which I thought had been done. I'm not sure where exactly I would be uploading the html file. I see the URL, but not sure where in the wp dashboard I would do that, so I opted to add the html tag to the header. I can add it, but any changes I try to make I get an error
that it can't talk to the site and it won't save. But it seems to hang in there long enough to verify. Then I read that you have to do this every time you have a theme update unless you create a child theme. That is even more confusing. Forget it for now. I just wanted to index my posts.

Finally! (For now at least until the next theme update) I can get my posts indexed. The one I was working on did get indexed, but it was on the 3rd page. There is a lot of competition though Jaaxy said my keyword had a QSR of 68 and traffic of 56. It is a start I guess.

Now, site comments. Have to give 2 to get 1. More time taken away from working on my site. AND, I ended up creating site feedback instead and so now I am back to square one.

Though it was difficult at first and I made just about every mistake in the book and had to learn about other things in order to complete the steps, I DID complete them and ready to have another post indexed.

Without your training, I would not be indexed and I wouldn't have learned so much more.

Like they say, as long as you learn from your mistakes!

Sweet results, Jay!

You know what I was thinking ... :) Did you get this kind of results on a NEW site? I think your aged domain helped, yes?

Also, what kind of external linking did you do? Bookmarks? Web 2.0?

Thanks,
C

Just my two cents worth but I'm thinking the aged domain doesn't hurt one bit...

SquidooSlfMstr Premium
Yeah, that's what I've learned.

Yes, a domain builds authority by adding content to the site.

The more content you add, the more Google begins to trust you as a reliable source for information. And as this happens over time, you can rank quicker and for more difficult keywords.

Thanks for answering, Jay.

Do you manually build your backlinks? Use a specific tool?
Reply
magistudios Premium
I mentioned this below.

Nope.
Not a single effort to acquire backlinks.

If anything, they naturally come to the site because people find value in linking to it.

I am sure you've heard it a million times, but build awesome content and people will naturally link to you.

Jay,

Do you do off-page SEO? Specifically, do you focus on building organic high-quality backlinks to your site?
Reply

The term “alt tag” is a commonly used abbreviation of what’s actually an alt attribute on an img tag. For any image on your site, the alt tag should describe what’s on it. Screen readers for the blind and visually impaired will read out this text and thus make your image accessible. (Yoast)

I am imagining how alt tag within an image looks and how it is placed. Can a screen shot be shown here? Thank you
Reply

Hi Jimmy,
