Hello,
Somewhere I have missed the training on how to make your HomePage Unique. Mine just shows my blogs and doesn't even show the pics on the home page, you have to go int

Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Home Page Settings to specify whether your home page is a static page (that doesn't mean you can't change it) or your blog page, You are welcome to check out the websites in my profile to see different approaches to a static home page.

I believe the live chat will be able to help you answer any questions you have. They are very helpful there. I am working on another site and project and am not active currently. Best of luck to you!!

You can add a featured image to each of your posts so the image will appear when the post excerpt is shown on your "home page". You have 2 options for your home page. The options are displayed at Wordpress backoffice scroll down left hand side to "settings" (not SEO). Hover and see "reading". Click on ii. The 2 options are 1) your 10 latest posts or 2) create a "home 'page" and have it always be your home page (it is called a static page).

Hello I am quite new to this as well but this is something I know I can help you with.

You are gonna need to log into the back office of your website. Once you get there find your post and hit edit. When you are in the editor you will see on the right a box that has a post tab and a block tab. If you don't see it click the settings icon at the top and then you will see it. Anyway under the post tab scroll down to featured image and that is where you will add the image you would like.

That's comes in time, what's more important is to first build content, your homepage would be your blog roll thus creating posts. Once site starts to have traction and traffic, you can then beautify your website.

However, within your posts, right sidebar you can add a featured image to each post, that will show on your blog roll.

This is probably answered somewhere and I would appreciate some guidance where I can find it. I was curious if I could purchase from my link in my post? This is an Amazon store

So I understand having rules and I am a rule follower at my age. HA. I was curious, I haven't learned about using social media yet, but do you put a "if you are my friend or family you can look at my post or click on any links" Maybe you can't market for Amazon on Facebook, there is no way my friends and family would not go in there and check it out.
Just curious, I am sure I will be learning about this

Hi Madena, I think buying from your own link may be considered cheating or padding the numbers. Though I wish it were allowed. If I am promoting a product I love, why not buy it from my affiliate link, lol. But there may be something in the ToS that says you can't do that.

Hi - here is their wording -

"You will not directly or indirectly purchase any products or take a Bounty Event action through Special Links, whether for your use or for the use of any other person or entity, and you will not permit, request or encourage any of your friends, relatives, employees, contractors, or business relations to directly or indirectly purchase any products"

Amazon has the strictest rules and the lowest commissions!

Lol, such rules for 5percent commission. But it's funny, why should they care where traffic is coming from when making money 🤣. However, I can infer need of such rules.

Hi - yes, and in fact, some of Amazon's products pay only 1%, and the average is 4%.

You can't do this although I'm not sure how they know who is part of your friendship group!!

Absolutely not! Neither can your friends or family, Madena! They are very strict on that, which is why I've never joined their associate program to date! I believe that it is outlined in their terms of service too!

I do not see my most recent post on my website. I just published it yesterday and added affiliate links to it as part of my task.
Is there a delay?
Thank-you so much for

Yes. There is a delay. Search engines have their own schedule as to when they crawl a site. In fact it could take a couple of days, a week or even longer. So it is important to keep on writing new posts because eventually they will be crawled by the search engines and indexed. It is good to get into a routine of publishing 2 -3 new posts a week. This is a good way to keep the search engines coming back routinely.

Make sure you content is original, helpful and is about your post title.

As AbieAJ , maye the browser cache is the problem. just click Shift+F5, that'll reset the cache for that particular page..

It can also be due to wp themes, some themes have delay (don't know why, but I had that experience few times)

That worked. I put that Shift+F5 on my cheat sheet I am creating.
Thanks

First I make sure it is published, when published it get updated instantly.

You may need to empty the browser cache, refresh and try again. Try URL in a different browser or mobile device.

You can also empty servers cache.
Websites > Site Manager > Details > Sitespeed > Empty site cache

You can also change themes, see if the issue changes and if the above does not work out.

To change your theme, here is what to do.

You may go to Appearance > Themes and add new.

Input what you are looking for, install and activate.

Your content will be left intact, you may lose out on CSS styles and social media icons if that, however with a bit of tweaking and you are done.

We always recommend you leaving a back up theme, you may do with the Twenty TwentyTwo.

However, if none of the above works out, you may reach out to site support as a last resource

I got an email that my domain has been indexed by Google. On my Content website I don't see that any pages have been indexed. I think I am not understanding the meaning behind

Congratulations on being indexed by Google. It's a great first step. Your next step is to write good content that gets ranked for your desired keywords/search terms.

Just so that you're clear, there's a difference between being indexed and being ranked. Indexed simply means that your website's pages and posts appear in Google's database and can be found by their URLs. This happens automatically as Googlebot crawls the web but can be speeded up by using Google Search Console. Each page and post is indexed individually. There's no such thing as "the site". It's a collection of pages and posts.

Pages and posts are ranked for particular keywords/search terms. This is what you're striving for. So that your post comes up on page 1 when someone enters that keyword/search term.

It means that your website is now in the Search Engine. It is up to you to continue to write quality posts early and often in order to get ranked where people will actually see it, Madena! Take heart, eventually, and sometimes sooner than later it happens, but it still requires that content!

Well done in getting indexed!

Jeff

Indexing happens throughout the life of your website. First the website domain URL is indexed. That is what you were notified about. That means your website can be viewed (home page).
mydomainname.com

Then any page or post you publish after that must also be indexed. The reason is because their URL is different. It adds the post title after your domain URL.
mydomainname.com/myfirstpost

Each post (or page) is indexed as well. When a post is indexed it is indexed for keywords so that when someone does a internet search your post can be retrieved and presented in the search results. So your goal is to write helpful original content so that you get indexed and then ranked well. When a post is indexed it is also ranked for keywords. Being ranked on the first page of Google search results is a big deal because you will get more people click on your search results and come to visit your site.

Hi - the first step in the process is that Google finds your website. This is called indexing, and simply means that Google has added your website to its search engine.

After that, each individual article you write needs to be found by Google and indexed.

The final stage is when Google decides which page to display each of your posts on, in its search engine results pages. The ultimate goal is to be placed on page 1.

This is called ranking, and can easily take several months.

As you can see, it's a long-term commitment.

It means that your website was found by Google and now it is a good time to start adding content.

To check posts indexed, if you edit in site content, you can see the big G when this happens, or input in Google site:[domain].com - of course replacing domain with yours.

Your pages get indexed too, unless a no index, no follow been ticked.

You may in future also check out Site Rank in Jaaxy.

You may input your keyword and domain name.

First your posts get indexed and often days later down the line start getting noticed provided targeted keywords are searchable, new websites can rank efficiently.

But typically "authority" for a website starts to get established through time, usually the 3-6 month mark.

They fluctuate up and down the scale till Google decides where to place them.

Not all posts will get ranked, thus the recommendation to keep updating blog 2 - 3 posts a week and that's for the foreseeable future.
