Ever feel like biting a few ankles?

I completed the lesson on submitting a sitemap to Google a couple of days ago, and ran into major problems. By the way..., if your website is verified by Google, you do NOT need to copy and paste your URL into the sitemap box, it's already there. All you have to do is add the part 'sitemap.xml'. However.... it did not work in my case, it turns out WA automatically redirects any www. addresses, to the non W addresses. This was causing a problem with trying to get my sitemap recognized. Support told me to delete my www address and add my URL without the Ws. It still did not work, I kept getting error messages about HTML blah blah blah. Support finally fixed it at their end again, and the sitemap worked. I admit I was mad to discover this as it seems because of this problem, my website has not been indexed for many months. It certainly explains my zero traffic and subsequently zero cash flow. Back in June, I discovered my website had become 'unverified' too, and Support had to help me fix that too. I felt like biting a few ankles 2 days ago. However, yesterday I felt such relief too, to have this fixed and Google was working away at indexing my site. I am going to be very paranoid now about whether my site is being indexed and will be checking Google Webmaster often. I would advise all of you, especially those of you who are not getting traffic, to make sure you submit your sitemap and check often to make sure YOUR website has not become 'unverified' as mine did or to find out that your website is just running around chasing it's own tail, as mine did. Lesson learned!! I still want to bit some ankles though...or tails.

You seem to be taking a snake's view of things Maddy! LOL

nope, not snakes view, a dogs view LOL!

Glad you were able to get some things straightened out. The support here is very good at helping when we need it.

Hope Google things start to improve even more.

You know, I am having problems with verification and web tools. Maybe I need to contact support.

Thanks for the info, let's bite some ankles!!

Oh Tammi, it has been soooo frustrating that worrying about my website not getting traffic has dampened my enthusiasium for other jobs around here too. Once that got fixed, I suddenly felt a great weight lifted and i was in overdrive... wrote a post and then did a lot of housework too :) I hope you get yours solved. Support will ask for a screen shot of what you are seeing, so be prepared for that. I didn't know how to get screen shots to them so that was another stress. My husband showed me how to do it and I couldn't believe how easy that was!

IKR...I was sooo worried about screen shots, and they were absolutely easy. I am going to contact support, I cannot figure out this Google web tools thing. It's driving me crazy...aaarrrggghhh!!!
