SOMETHING ABOUT VETERANS DAY

So. Monday was Veterans Day. Personally, I enjoyed it very much. I didn't do anything special, didn't go to any parades or gatherings or visit the traveling wall in Magnolia.

You know I do not talk about my tour in Biet Nam. Actually I don't watch any shows or documentarys of that time of my life. And as far as that goes I don't watch TV at all. I was there and now I am moving on. Some times I still get emotional about my tour of duty there. I sincerly hope that every one tried to say something to a Vet on Monday. It really shows appreciation and support. Believe me it truely means a lot to a Vet or an active duty person to hear somthing positive from people at home. Along this note I would personally like to SHOUT OUT A BIG THANK YOU to MR. OVERTON. Mr Overton is our oldest living Veteran of WWll at 107 years young. And Guess what? Mr. Overton lives in OUR GREAT STATE OF TEXAS right here in Austin Texas. Isn't that Amazing? Thank you again Mr Overton and I hope you have a long and wonderful life.

But hey what about the rest of my day on Monday? Ginny and I BBQ'd some pork sausage and ribs, and some brisket, and a little German Bratwurst. I had to through on some sweet onion, corn on the cobb, and a couple of Colorado Gold 1 pound baking potatoes. Man, what a feast. I'll bet I gained a good 10 pounds Monday.

I tried working that extra 10 pounds off working in my garden. I had to start gathering what was left growing before the freeze tonight. Tuesday started out at 50, cloudy, windy and steadly going down all day. High today was supposed to be 52(don't think it made it) and the low after 12:00 am is supposed to be 28--Brrrrrrrrrrrr. Going to be cold. Anyway I wanted to gather up some vegetables before they ruin from the freeze. I took a little picture of the harvest that I will share with you.

I have already planted Colrflour, Dutch Flat Head Cabbage----this ought to be fun never grew a Flat Headded cabbage before!!!! , Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, spinach, red cabbage, red lettuce, and head lettuce.

Well this was just a short post mainly about Veterans Day. I just remember how we were treated in the 60's and guess I just remember.

Well every body have a blessed day and stay safe.

Till next time Frank

Hi Frank, I really enjoyed your post here about veterans day and wanted to thank you for it. I am a newbie here at WA and look forward to following you. Lived in Killeen, TX from 83 to 86. FT. Hood.

Thank you WJC. I am still new here at Wealthy Affiliate my self. I am still learning and now starting Affiliate Bootcamp. Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate and best wishes to you and your success. Believe me when I say I have tried many, many, of these courses. Wealthy Affiliate so far is number one in my humble opinion. I LOVE TEXAS and really hope your stay here in the 80's was great. I was born in Austin in 1947 and I don't think I will ever leave again. I was a Marine Corpsman in Viet Nam in '67-'68. Feelings run strong with me about the Military. I could just "CRY" about John McCain(decorated, Prisoner of War, Hero) after he turned against his fellow Military men be voting to SLASH the Wounded War Veteran's Pension. Enough said. I am following you and look forward to working with you in the future. To your good fortune.................Frank

McCain is a politician. Nuff said.

I spent 6 years in the Navy......mostly during the Vietnam War. I can get what you are saying. Talk about the 60's, you might enjoy this: http://www.streetarticles.com/relationships/60s-to-60-in-nothing-flat
Best Wishes.....Pete

My heartfull respects to Mr.Overton.

Thanks to veterans for their sacrifice to save our lives.

Thank you Inspiration1. Mr. Overton is our oldest living WWll Vet at 107 years young.

Hi Frank, sounds like you had a nice veterans day bbq. I'm glad you had a lovely day, you deserve it. :)

Thanks so much for your service, my father was in the army so I grew up an army brat and I completely agree that Veterans like and deserve to hear a big thank you for your service. My kids will stop any "soldier" to say thank you and ask for a handshake or "fist bump", it makes them feel so proud and puts a big smile on their face.

I look forward to your pictures of your harvest, sounds like you have quite the garden! :)

Again a big Thank you,

Patty :)

Thank you Patty. I really appreciate the kind words. I give thanks that I was able to serve my country. Thanks again, my picture didn't come out so I will try to repost a picture later. Have a great day.

Even though I am from Canada I want to thank you for your service. My stepdad is a WWII vet and we celebrated with him again and bought him and my mom lunch. It's become our tradition and important to my wife and I that we raise our kids to show respect. I wish you all the best.

Hey Rick. Thank you and tell your Dad Thanks for serving. I beleive we should all honor our service men and women both past and present.
Have a great day.
