Pages can have comments. This is easily done, see the training in my profile.
You can add posts into menu, they will still be in the blog roll as well. There will be no difference between them and ordinary pages.
But bear in mind there is limit of items in menu and sub-menus, 80 in total. You will not be able to add all posts there in long terms.
Just FYI - comments on pages is Theme specific and very few of them offer it any more. I spoke with Kyle about this and he confirmed... seems like a lot of them got out of whack with the WordPress 4.6 update.
In my training I have already pointed out that some themes do not allow comments.
Further than that cannot say anything, except that it cannot be that only few of them allow comments. I am using 4 different and they all have comments, and I know at least 10 more which also allow comments.
Awesome, I'll look up your training then because the majority of ones that people come into LiveChat with don't seem to support comments on pages.
Here are my themes: 20-10, 20-16, zeeDynamics, Shooting Star, all with comments
I am sure all 20-themes used to be with comments in pages, and then Song Writer, zeeDisplay, etc. But you are saying that with the new WP this may have changed. Did not check.

Thanks, I will test these out and get back to you.
