We’ve heard it before, but I feel it needs to be stressed.
There is simply no point in working yourself to the bone 12 hours a day if you can’t take the time to ENJOY the downtime.

Many people struggle to relax - work-related stress and anxiety are at an all-time high. The increasing pressure to ‘perform’ well in strict work environments is a recipe for disaster for work-life balance.

So, what can we do?

The most effective way that is prescribed is to prioritize your SLEEP. Yes, diet and exercise regularly are essential, but they are of no benefit if the body doesn’t have the sufficient energy to allow those things to work.

Yes! Proven time and time again, both physical and mental health benefit when has sufficient periods of regular and systematic deep sleep. Knowing this should be the first step when you seek to improve your balance between work and personal tasks.

Some tips for beginning:
- Create and uses a sleep diary.
With this diary, you can identify and pinpoint periods of poor sleep and allow you to try to investigate the reason(s) for it.

- Download a sleep app
There are tons of phone apps nowadays that help to record your sleeping patterns. The more technical ones measure the depth and quality of your sleep too!

- Avoid screens in the hour preceding bedtime, and keep artificial light to a minimum.

- Do not eat directly before your bedtime; your digestion is inhibited, and this can cause poor sleep quality and wakefulness during the night.
