When The Day Goes Bad From Start To Finish!

You know most days I have really good days. I am a positive person and when something small goes wrong I just get on with it and it honestly doesn't affect me too much.

Then every now and then comes a day like today where it is bad from start to finish and I start praying for bedtime so I can just pull the covers over my head and cry.

I woke up this morning at 6h30am to my bedroom window right next to me being a waterfall.

I kid you not, the rain was pouring down outside and at that angle it just came pouring in through my closed window. When I opened the curtains to have a better look the water started hitting the windowsill and splashing all over my bed.

Half my bedroom floor was soaked. Thankfully we have tiled floors! So I just grabbed some towels and put them on the floor to soak up the water... and got on with my day.

Everything goes smoothly, I manage to get my kids to school without too much of a fuss. I leave the school and as I start driving away my car just dies. It was running and then it wasn't and I couldn't start it. I only made it about 50m away from the school doors.

I called my mother in law and she came to fetch me and take me home. I called my car repair guys to fetch my car.

I arrived home and I was cold from being outdoors in the cold wet weather so I decided to have a shower before trying to somehow get in about an hours work before I figure out how I am going to fetch my children without disturbing my husband from work as he is 80km away.

The water doesn't heat up so I check the electricity box, the geyser is off.

By this stage I am starting to feel a little hard done by! I turn the geyser on and start checking my emails when I hear a click. It is my geyser tripping. It has never done this before! I spend some time fiddling with the electricity box but it just keeps tripping.

OMW what happened to the time? I need to make a plan to fetch my kids.

My lovely neighbour drives me to the next town to fetch my kids from playschool and everything goes smoothly for the next few hours.

Well except for the inside seam of my pants which split badly showing my wobbly thigh, but that will just take a few minutes to fix.

Then when I wanted to cook supper my stove takes about 20 minutes to heat up - what on earth is going on here?

Eventually the food is cooked.

My thoughts are with those less fortunate that live in shacks, if my window managed to turn into a waterfall at the crack of dawn I wonder how other people fared? Lot of people living in shacks in townships don't even have running water and a toilet in their shack, never mind a geyser for hot water.

It has been a bad day and I cringe thinking what my car is going to cost and when I might get it back and whether our geyser problem will be fixed before the weekend... and whether the window will be fixed up!

It is 8pm and thankfully it is my husband's turn to put the kids to bed tonight which is about to happen now. Very soon I can go to bed and rise to a new day which just has to be better than today! Here's hoping I don't wake up to another waterfall in my bedroom tomorrow.

Have a great evening :)

You are certainly experiencing 'interesting times'. When you can stay positive through that, the good days will just get better and better.

Good for you for stepping up and addressing the problem. Good luck, Deanna

Well its either that or have an open house all night with no hot water. It is dangerous in South Africa - we have one of the highest rape and murder rates in the world. I can't be sitting here with an open house.

Oh what a week....

Hopefully all is fixed, be thankful those problems can be fixed and we live to fight another day. Good luck to you, Deanna

Nope nothing is fixed LOL and today I added in a new problem - I broke my door that goes from my bedroom outside onto the beach so I can't lock it. So even if I did have my car today I wouldn't be able to leave my house or it will be ransacked. Oh dear... its 2h30pm and my kids are stuck at playschool and I am stuck at home with all these problems.

Renting sucks because my estate agent is full of **** and has not attended to anything since yesterday. Nothing has been done. I had to call the owner of the house just a few minutes ago, bypassing the estate agent, to complain. Thankfully I did because she is pissed off as she didn't realize the problems we are having and she said she will sort it out right now! YAY!

Then I just need my car back and we are sorted.

"This, too, shall pass"

Water probably got into the fuel line Lynne. Congratulations on surviving being swamped with water!

May your blankets be dry from rain and tears in the morning.

Don't you just love days like that......... Not....... All the best for tomorrow Lynne

I've heard David Wolfe say on days like that he keeps asking himself how do I make this the best day ever, because that can still happen ;)

Wow. Look's like you got a year's worth of issues cleared up in one day. I hope evrything gets better now.

Well I can't see tomorrow could possibly be any worse! LOL

Sorry to hear of your bad day. I hope you have a better one tomorrow. These things happen to test us I guess, and we often take our everyday things that work for granted so we must be grateful for everything we have around us everyday.

PS - like your smiley profile pic update. :)

Thanks Grace :) And yay its bedtime! May tomorrow be a better day!
