They said WHAT?

Just for a giggle I wanted to share some funny things that people have said to me this year.

1. Will You Replace Your Affiliate Links With Mine?

Yes I kid you not. I got an email from someone saying that they were struggling to get their affiliate marketing efforts going and they noticed that we promote a lot of the same things, so would I mind replacing my affiliate links with theirs on my website for a short period of time? Just to, you know, kick start off their business.

2. Ok Just Send Me Some Login Details Quickly!

I get a lot of requests to publish guest posts on my website and I charge $25 to publish a post. It takes time out of my day to publish other people's articles on my websites and of course it is nice income too... I get a lot of people saying that they want it done for free and I just explain that even if I wanted to I cannot afford to take time away from my business activities to publish guest posts.

So last week the reply I got from a complete stranger was "No problem, just send me your login details and I will do it myself".

3. That's Ridiculous

I had a woman email me about 2 years ago to share her new book that has just launched on Amazon and would I review it for her. I was really polite and had only recently started blogging full time so I asked her if she would like me to send her the details for my product review package... her response was that she was looking for free promotion. I replied and told her that I am really busy with paid promotions and if I find some time I may be able to do something. I didn't want to burn any bridges and I was trying to figure out exactly what I would be doing with my blog.

Anyway this woman has been emailing me every few months whenever she brings out a new product with the expectations that I will find time to promote it for her.

She emailed me again yesterday with the same sort of request, asking that I review her product on my blog, review it on Amazon and share it on my 100k strong social media channels.

I replied with a quotation for $250. Her reply was 2 words: "That's ridiculous".

4. Your Blog Sucks

On Fiverr I got a message from a buyer telling me to drop my $50 gig rate to $5 to write and publish a sponsored post on my blog. The message went like this:

"Send custom offer for $5 - I buy right now!"

My reply was "My rates are not negotiable".

"Ok make it $10 for 2 posts"

My reply was "My rates are not negotiable".

This discussion went on for 2 days back and forth. Eventually I sent a message asking the seller (politely but firmly) to please leave me alone.

The reply was "Your blog sucks I don't want a guest post on it anyway".

LOL These are gems. Thanks for the giggles Lynne. :D

This is the whole reason to blog, so that you can share funny stories for the rest of your life :-)

LOL. Love it! People are so...!

LOL...wonders will never cease!

thanks for info on red flag posts have not recieved one yet but will know what to watch for thanks

Hahaha Lynne, those are classic! Well done on sticking to your guns.

HI Lynne, "send your login details" ?? Just trying to stop chuckling long enough to decide whether it was more ridiculous or more scary that someone would seriously ask this!

Many thanks for cheering up my Saturday, enjoy the rest of your weekend, Sue :)

Yes it took me a while to stop shaking from laughter long enough to type a reply to that one ROFL!

Einstein once said
Quote" Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe..."

Yes exactly Loes :)

Einstein was a very wise man :)

Yes he was, Steven Hawking was also a wise man, may he find his rest now, I have a huge respect for the way Steven lived his life.

It is so sad when the world loses people like Steven Hawking. What his body was deprived of, his beautiful mind had an abundance of.

I can only echo your sentiments, Loes...

I am just wondering whether stupidity or impudence are at a higher rate in all these cases:)

I don't think it is stupidity at all. I believe that these people take chances because some people fall for it.

"because some people fall for it"...I get calls almost every day--sometimes 2 or 3--wanting to fix my PC, lower my credit card interest rates, offer me a warranty plan for my vehicle or a health plan...I usually ask them if telephone scamming is profitable because I'm looking to make a little extra cash, and could they please send me all of their personal information....dead silence for a few seconds, then "beep-beep-beep"...:-)

Maybe you are right. But then the people who fall for it are the stupid ones.

So it seems there is always a balance between those taking chances and the other ones.

nice approach to get rid of them:)

Thanx for these giggles Lynne. People are unbelievable, huh?
