Scorpion Stings Are Nasty!
Last night at 11pm I went to my 5 year old daughter's room, woke her up gently and carried her into the bathroom to have a wee before I go to bed. Just like I do very night.
I lowered her down and her bare feet touched the ground right next to mine before she sat on the toilet.
At the exact moment I felt excruciating pain shooting up from my foot. I looked down and saw nothing, so I shook my foot but the pain stayed.
I pulled my foot out of my flip flops and a tiny little brown scorpion fell to the floor.
I must've been screaming because my husband came in, saw me balancing on one foot, with both my hands on my daughter holding her safe on the toilet.
He rushed in and squashed the scorpion with his shoe, like a hero saving his damsel in distress.
This is the first time I have been stung by a scorpion and I have to say those things pack one nasty punch.
After settling my daughter in bed I went to Google about scorpion stings. I wasn't sure if I should go to the hospital or how to look after it.
One thing that jumped out at me is that chances are I would be just fine, but if children are stung by a scorpion it can be fatal. In my mind I saw her bare little feet touching the ground next to mine and I am so grateful.
I have no idea why it stung me and not her, but I am so grateful that it left her alone.
It makes me realize just how fragile life is and how in the middle of the night on a toilet trip when you feel completely safe, there could be something life threatening for you or your family!
Be grateful for your life,be grateful for everything you have.
I can now tick that off my bucket list, I have been stung by a scorpion.

I would have had a heart attack. I'm so glad your little girl and you are ok. It's not only scary but creepy. I don't like things that crawl and unfortunately, I don't have a knight to save me. You just never know what the next moment will bring do you.
Glad to hear that you will be ok Lynne, and his job your daughter wasn't stung, do true we don't know what's around the next corner.
Thanks Lynnette, when I read how dangerous it can be for a child I was more than happy with the pain!
Oh, I totally understand! We parents would much rather suffer any pain to save our children!
More blessings to you Lynne!
Lynne
That is pretty scary, Lynne. Glad you are okay and that your daughter didn't get stung.
I don't think I will add this to my bucket list, though.
Regards,
Duncan
What no scorpions? What about like a Bear Grylls bucket list where you eat the scorpions? LOL

I had the same thing happen to me when I was stationed in New Mexico. Left foot between the toes. Like a red hot pin being pushed into my foot. Not fun at all.
Oh no... not between the toes, that must have been much worse. This one got the side of my foot underneath where the skin is tougher, especially since I am barefoot a lot.
