Looking forward to being childless for a few days!

Now I know a lot of people go away without their kids and leave them with their parents or maybe with other family members or close friends.... and perhaps the kids have sleep overs often.

That's not my life. I have had my kids with me always since birth except for 3 days in April this year when both my kids went to stay with my parents in school holidays. My daughter was 5 and my son was 3... so it was a rough last 5 years.

Oh what an amazing feeling that was being completely childless and at home for a few days. It was so rejuvenating.

Anyway tomorrow my kids and I are driving to my parents tomorrow and then on Sunday I will be coming home ALONE and my kids will stay with my parents on their farm until the following Sunday.

Is it wrong of me to feel so excited? Its so funny how life changes, I used to live for Friday night partying, but this beats any happy hour at a bar.

Not wrong at all!! You're not excited at the fact that they're going away, you're excited for a much needed break. Mothers really do have the hardest job in the world and you no doubt have earned a bit of time for yourself!!

NOT wrong at all!! All mamas need a break and I know exactly how you feel. You DESERVE breaks, and they are necessary to keep sane! :)

ENJOY your for alone time!
Grace

Enjoy that week, they'll be back soon!

Enjoy your childless time! It is good for you and your children. I love my alone time, which doesn't happen anymore except when they are at school, because we have moved away from our support network. So enjoy, spoil yourself, I can guarantee that your parent's will be spoiling your little munchkins.

Yes it is hectic being so far away from a support network! My parents are 350km away which makes it a little tricky to get any along time. Now that my kids are older they will be spending some holidays with my parents and geez what a relief!

The time apart will be good for all of you. They will miss you and be full of excitement telling you of all the adventures they had while away. And...you can relax, take a breather and recharge your batteries. Enjoy some adult time with friends.
We have one daughter and we were like the 3 Muskateers...until she went away to college. That day will come all too soon for you too.
If you have time, pick up two disposable cameras that they can take pictures with. It will be a riot looking at them together when they get home.
Have a great week,
Karen

They will be taking their new tablets that they got so they can take pics with those!

Not only will it be great for you, I'm sure your parents will enjoy having your kids all to themselves. Enjoy!

Yes my parents are looking forward to this, they don't get to spend much time with their grandchildren!

Hi Lynn! We have one daughter and we've never been away from her together. I've gone back to the states when she was little and I'd leave her here with her dad. Same with hubby. He's go visit his family and it would be just me and Fiona. We always vacationed together. The only time she wasn't with us was when she had sleepovers at her friends houses! It wasn't intentional. It's just the way it worked out for us. Enjoy your time. It will be a great opportunity for you to recharge the batteries!! Alanna

Thanks Alanna :) I am so excited, we are leaving in a few hours.

Lynn,
Having had help with my children as they grew up from helpful and loving grandparents, I report that this is the best freedom ever.

As the Mom of a son turning 60 this year, I still remember the feeling of relief. To have someone take over and know that they are trusted and loving caregivers. That was as near heaven on earth as I experienced through the years. It did not happen every year, but when it did, I was ever so grateful.

This allows the child to know that Mom will go, but be back soon.

Enjoy and know that you will be a parent for this break.
Sami
