Can You Hear Me Scam
Scammers will not rest easily until they have robbed innocent individuals out of their money. We all have to be careful, read and listen to what is happening in the world.
The "Can You Hear Me Scam?" is not new but it is being used now quite often. They are not choosy about who gets a call so everyone is now being warned not to answer calls unless you know who is calling. If the call is important the caller will leave a message and you can return the call.
How It Works
Your phone will ring and the caller will ask 'Can you hear me'?
The caller is recording your voice so if you say 'Yes' it will be recorded saved and edited to be used at a later date. This sort of scam was used in the purchasing of office equipment for large companies. This has changed and a large number of individuals have reported getting calls since January.
I got 2 calls 1 from a cable network asking me to do a survey, and I am not certain where the second call came from. The caller asked, "Are you the owner of the house?" I said "no" and hang up the phone.
The calls are coming from vacation packages, Survey groups, cruises, and other large offers. We are advised to sign up with the do not call registry- DoNotCall.gov with the hope that the calls will be less but scammers do not have any regards for the Laws of the land so they might call anyway.
I have not found from my research that anyone has lost money so it is not clear what the scammers have in mind but we just have to be careful.
Things To Remember
Use your Caller ID to screen your calls.
If someone calls and ask "Can You Hear Me?" Do not answer, hang up the phone.
Many Blessings!

Thanks, Luna. Excellent to know. I've had some strange calls lately and I hope I didn't say "yes." I registered with donotcall.gov. Thanks for providing the link.
