I have an old website at wordpress.com, and I would like to pull it across to Wealthy Affiliate. Has anyone done this before, because I'm not sure how to pull in the entire web

Backup your site before doing the transfer.
Then contact Site support so you can be sure everything is transferred properly from another hosting service.

Well, the migration of your domain is not that hard. The question is , is there anything on that domain like content that you want to keep because then you have to make a backup before you do anything otherwise you lose everything

All you have to do is point the domain name to WA's servers. You do this in the domain name host.

Thank you, ill give it a try

Great. Let me know if you need specific help.

Thank you, this looks like an in depth article

You're very welcome.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi
I tried applying the guidelines of the article that you sent me, I'm just having an error issue on the importing side here at WA. I choose the xml file and I choose the import media option as well. After a few minutes the process times out with a message.

Message: newbackupsite.siterubix.com didn’t send any data.

Message: Sorry, there has been an error.
File is empty. Please upload something more
substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads
being disabled in your php.ini file or by post_max_size
being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in
php.ini.

I got the zip file, and extracted it to xml for this.

Is there something that I'm missing?

Hi, I am trying to move a website from a Wordpress.com server to the servers here at Wealthy Affiliate. I'm just not too sure how to go about it, without loosing any of the dat

Hi .. Do you want to simply change the hosting to WA or actually change the registrar?

If you want to change the registrar over, you will first want to change the nameservers to host it here as it can take up to 14 days to complete and you will not have access to it while the move is taking place. Here are some tips on which order to do these things in: This training will help you with changing the nameservers to host it here at WA: Once you have changed the nameservers and made sure it is working correctly, you can then begin the process of changing the registrar over if you choose to.

Good luck, Shannon

Hi, thanks, I would like to change both and I'm struggling because I don't have any experience with doing this.

The first thing you will want to do is change the nameservers. To do this you will log in to the account where your domain is now hosted, find the nameserver area and then update them to WA hosting servers as shown in the training above (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/wa-hosting-setting-up-your-domain-dns)
Primary: ns1.mywahosting.com
Secondary: ns2.mywahosting.com

Hi, you need back up your site form WordPress.com - And then install it on a site purchased, transferred or pointed.

Thanks very much for this article
