How long did it take you to make your first sale with affiliate marketing & in what niche?
Would love to know, thanks in advance 😉
Started in 2000 struggled for 3 years. Then in 2003 I met Cory Rudl. He took me under wing.
3 months later I made my first commission from clickbank in the health niche. And then 15 months later (2005) I quit my job and have been making a fulltime online income every since.
So I could say 3 months, but if you take everything into account it's 3 years 3 months.
Never Give Up!!!!
It was about 6 months. my niche, kid's balance bikes. I would love to say things snowballed from there, but they haven't. so much to learn still for me😊🚴♂️
Thanks for the reply, Dale. I am sure you will get there, a quote comes to mind: “Winners never quit, and quitters never win.”
Haha, Twin Brother. I'll let you know when I get one, but as you know I came here to promote my books because of the excellent Web Hosting and Site Support. I've had a few sales in that department, but there is still a long way to go!
Hope all is going well with you, Luc!

Hey Luc,
19 days (in 2008).
Read "Bum Marketing" by the great Travis Sago.
Signed up for an EzineArticles account (and after a month, a Squidoo account and a Hubpages account).
Followed Travis' keyword research and article writing methods (after about 3-4 days of trying to get everything straight in my head).
And whaddya know, it worked, yaaay... and continued to work for about the next 4 years, until it didn't work anymore. Hahaha!
Then, I had to start all over again!! LOL (things in this business are ever-evolving and ever-changing).

Hey Luc Dermul,
Thanks for asking! My journey with affiliate marketing was exciting, and I made my first sale after about three months. I was in the technology niche, promoting gadgets and accessories.
Remember, every affiliate's journey is unique, and results may vary depending on the niche, marketing efforts, and other factors. Stay consistent, keep learning, and you'll achieve great results too!
If you have any more questions or need further advice, feel free to reach out. Wishing you all the best in your affiliate marketing endeavors!
Cheers,
Israel

As an affiliate marketer, when choosing a product (relevant to your niche) what are for you the key factors to choose to promote (or apply) for that product?
Often high commissions are for garbage products though. Better to promote something you believe in than try to dupe your readers into buying something bad so you can make more money.
No dupe no no.
Because I put myself in the same shoes as the buyer | visitor and if I wouldn't accept it myself, I do not expect the buyer to do same, however thank your for notes appreciated.
That's a great question. For me personally I wouldn't want to promote any product that I didn't like or use myself! Also, people talk about not wanting to promote low dollar items, but I sort of disagree on that. I think low dollar items are going to add up, especially if it is something that people would reorder or a product that needs replacing frequently etc. What are your thoughts on low dollar items?
Hi - you are unlikely to get repeat orders with low dollar items. Once a person has read your review on the item and been persuaded to click your link to purchase it, then in future, they are unlikely to buy it through your website again.
They will go straight to the website they purchased it from, as it will have a record of their previous order and it will be easy to re-order again.
And very few affiliate programs offer a recurring commission on physical products.
Subscription box programs usually offer a recurring commission. There are hundreds of choices on ShareASale.
Actually there's so much more than trying to sell the same item to the same person over again. Usually if the consumer was pleased with your first recommendation, they'll trust other recommendations on your site, and hopefully there's way more than just one product discussed.
Also there's probably a constant stream of new shoppers finding your site, so you'll have all of them as well.
I think it's good to offer readers a variety of products at different price points within a category. Some can't afford the most expensive; some only want the best. Having something for each means more sales for you.

Have you ever had someone reach out to you in some interesting or unusual way?
My experience similar to Liz. I recently joined a network for my Golf website and the network keeps offering me new affiliates that have absolutely nothing to do with golf. I just delete them.
It's important to keep the players straight. It's not the network which is inviting you to those programs - it's the individual merchants.
Part of that can be which network you're referring to here. Some have weak publisher bases, so their merchants have no choice but to contact literally everyone in hopes of recruiting a handful.
Usually on the better networks, you're only contacted by programs which make sense or occasionally by rookie affiliate managers who don't know better.
yes, but for either totally unrelated niches or someone who wanted me to promote just one object from his site and then minimum payout would be 250$, that was never going to work sadly.
