Hi all,

On May 4, 2020, GoDaddy, one of the world’s largest website hosting providers, disclosed that the SSH credentials of approximately 28,000 GoDaddy hosting accounts were compromised by an unauthorized attacker.

Here is what GoDaddy announced :

“On April 23, 2020, we identified SSH usernames and passwords had been compromised by an unauthorized individual in our hosting environment. This affected approximately 28,000 customers. We immediately reset these usernames and passwords, removed an authorized SSH file from our platform, and have no indication the individual used our customers’ credentials or modified any customer hosting accounts. The individual did not have access to customers’ main GoDaddy accounts.”

As A premium member hosting of your websites (10 websites in total) is included.

You can either point the DNS servers to WA or do a complete transfer to the servers here.

That way you save money for web hosting :-)

All the best,

Luc

Thanks Luc. Interesting to know. Cyber security is so important. I use Bitfinder too for my laptop. Its pretty intrusive but its reassuring, particularly for emails and online banking.

Thanks for the info.

Sounds like GoDaddy have some explaining to do.
I personally don't have any services with them, but like you say I could be wise to transfer them to WA...

Stay safe

Indeed!

Hi Luc, thanks for sharing this information.

Wilson

I still have a GoDaddy account. They did not contact me so I am guessing I am not affected.

Luckily I am with WA. :)
