Winning When It Gets Hard

This is my first blog post, and I think if it wasn't for the fact that it's one of the tasks I probable wouldn't be writing one to begin with - at least not at this stage of the game.

I don't like to feel vulnerable.

This morning I had my usual coaching call at 3AM (time differences suck!) and one of our team was absent. Our coach explained that she is stepping away from her business for a bit to focus on family and reassess what she wants from her blog.

I could totally relate to her desire to get away from it all.

Before I started my career in the online world (I talk as if I've been around for years and realistically it's only been just over 12 months... ) I hardly went on social media and imagined that working online must be a breeze because I could just substitute the couple of minutes a day I spent scrolling and postic a picture here and there with content that would earn me money, and PRESTO!

Not so much.

Around June of this year the pressure to be earning online and making a success of my business while being a stay-at-home-mom to two girls under the age of 4 and keeping a household running had me losing my mind... so, I quit. I stopped working (it wasn't like I was earning money anyway) and borderline disengaged from my kids and just sat and vegetated in front of the TV.

Looking back now, I probably went into a bit of a depression because I felt so much like a failure and I could see my husband's frustration building, but I just didn't care.

I don't quite remember what jolted me out of my sorry state, but shortly after we moved into a new house (no, the old one didn't fall apart due to my lack of care) I found a new breath of inspiration and got stuck in. Around September I found WA and since then I've been really happy doing what I'm doing.

I earned my first online dollars which was great, but what really helped was having clear tasks to do whenever I worked. Knowing each time when sit down to work, I have information to work through and actions to take has helped to keep me motivated and excited about the process.

If you're doing the math and seeing that from September to now I've only reached the end of module 2, well done! Your counting skills are great! I haven't been working on my online business daily for various reasons, mainly because I also started a part-time job (since the online income is still loading), but also because I do have days where I still feel overwhelmed and scared of the fact that I know so little and don't know how long it will take to be successful (and a whole host of other irrational fears - Frued would have a ball if he were alive).

Anyhoo, I suppose the point I want to make with this long-winded ramble, is that it's ok to feel overwhelmed and step away for a while. It's not a race to the success finishline, take your time where you need to and just try to be as consistent as you can. I know from my own experience as someone who is consistently inconsistent, that changing those habits can be tough.

Stick at it, and it will happen!

Hi Lou
Good honest post- thanks for sharing
Life can get in the way but if you dedicate 2 hours every day to writing a post and doing some training, you will eventually get to the end of the training and look back with amazement at what you learn and how much your business has grown
Never never never give up :)
Vicki

Agreed Lou, never, never give up. Keep in mind that your plate is also very full, you are a mum to two young girls, a wife, running a home, waking up for 3am coaching calls - AND building an online business. Now you will be working part-time too! Pacing yourself is the only way to get everything done and this may sound corny but "feel the fear and do it anyway". My best friend says it like this "eat the frog" in other words, do the thing you really don't want to do first. Comes from a book called "Eat That Frog! 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time"
I wish you everything of the best.
Blessings
Louise
